23 DIVISION CONDUCTED A SHRAMADANA CAMPAIGN TO CLEAN BATTICALOA CITY

1. Effective protection of the environment is critical to sustainable development. It is now time to join hands across the country to protect and preserve our environment and there by safeguard human health along with the natural environment air ,water and land.\r\n2. In view of above 23 Division troops conducted a Environmental campaign on 20 January 2017 at Batticaloa city to make pristine environment with in the area under the guidance of GOC 23 Division Major General HWSDB Pananwala RSP ndu. 350 ‹ troops under command to 23 Division attended the campaign.

23 DIVISION CONDUCTED REALITY BASED SELF DEFENCE COURSE

\r\n1. Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) or Reality Based Martial Arts refer to systems of self defence that focus exclusively on reality based self defence scenarios and conditions. Unlike mixed martial arts and traditional martial arts styles like Karate, reality based self defence is neither a hobby nor a sport which represents tournaments of sport combat competitions. It\'s all about learning how to fight.\r\n\r\n2. 23 Division conducted a RBSD course with the assistance of 1 CR, and the duration of the training was 30 working days.

DONATION OF SCHOOL UNIFORMS - 23 DIVISION

The 23 Division organized a donation of school uniforms to the primary students of the area with the sponsorship of ‘Foundation of Goodness ‘on 21 January 2017.A total of 440 students of the schools of Ruhunuketha, Kadawathmaduwa, Namalgama, Punani and LumbiniVidyalaya received parcels of school uniforms worth Rs.1000 each during the event.\r\nThe coordinator of the event, Lt Col H M L K Amunugama SLSR Civil Affairs Officer 23 Division, Officials of ‘Foundation of Goodness’, principals, teachers, parents and students of the schools also were present at the donation cer

It is the responsibility of everybody to keep the schools clean and beautiful since the school education laid the foundation for each of us to grow up into responsible persons in the society.Troops of the 23 Division conducted a ‘Shramadana Campaign’ at St. Michael’s College Batticaloa, on 31 Jan 2017 consequent to a request made by the School Development Society to make the environment clean and free from dengue epidemic.

DILMA EXTENDS BENEVOLENCE TO THE PEOPLE IN THE EASTERN PROVINCE

NEW AUDITORIUM FOR VIRU KEKULU PRESCHOOL MINNERIYA

To ensure adequate facilities and care for the children, the construction of a new auditorium for Viru Kekulu Preschool – Minneriya was started on 09 February 2017 based on a concept of Mrs. Nayana De Silva, Hon President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit.Maj Gen Darshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc Commander, Security Forces (East) laid the foundation stone on the invitation of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit at an auspicious time amidst religious blessings.

TROOPS OF 3 MIR CONSTRUCTED A HOUSE FOR A WIDOW

Troops under the Security Force Headquarters East, giving prominence to community projects, constructed yet another house for a widow at No 73, Nagasthenna, Nawamahasenpura, Welikanda. \r\n\r\nTroops of 3 Mechanized Infantry Regiment initiated this meritorious deed of constructing a house for Mrs. D M Kumarihami, a widow who was living with her young daughter in an unsafe and decayed house for a long time.
