233 BRIGADE CONDUCTED A DONATION TO NEEDY FAMILIES

Troops of 233 Brigade of the 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – East conducted a donation programme for under-privileged families at Kadiraweli Vigneshwara College on Saturday (16) with the sponsorship, provided by “Royal Enfield Riders Club”.This community-oriented empowering programme was an initiative aimed at encouraging education of of under-privileged children and supporting the livelihoods of poor families.

TROOPS OF 4 GW ASSIST TO RENOVATE A TANK BUND

The troops of 4th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch timely intervened to renovate the tank bund in Kalikkulam Tank, Nediyamadu on 18.01.2019 plastering the leakages reported. Under the directions of the Commander 231 Brigade, Col GMN Perera RWP RSP, 2 x 20 troops coordinated with the Department of Agrarian Development and Disaster Management Centre - Batticaloa in order to enhance the civil-military coordination in the area.

10TH BATTALION, THE GAJABA REGIMENT COMMEMORATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

The Officers Get-together of 10th Battalion, the Gajaba Regiment to commemorate its 25th anniversary was held on 12 January 2019 at the Battalion Headquarters Batticaloa with the presence of Maj Gen Shavendra Silva - Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment. His Lordship Rt. Rev Joseph Ponnaiah - Bishop of Batticaloa Diocese, Lt. Gen (retd) Jagath Dias - first Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Maj Gen Aruna Jayasekera - Comd SF East, Mr. Kapila Jayasekara - SDIG Eastern Province and a large gathering of invitees representing Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and distinguished civilians attended the event. The highlight of the evening was the felicitation given to all former Commanding Officers of the Battalion in recognition of their dedicated services rendered in upbringing the Battalion to the present status. A colourful entertainment programme concluded the proceedings.

22 DIVISION SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED BASIC ENGLISH AND TAMIL LANGUAGE COURSES

22 Division successfully completed Basic English and Tamil language courses scheduled for year 2018, for Other Ranks of under command battalions to enhance their language skills to achieve modern language demands enabling them to provide an efficient service without any language barrier. The English language course consisted with 45 working days while Tamil language course was conducted for a period of 30 working days including theoretical and practical aspects.
