VESAK ZONE ORGANIZED BY SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST) FASCINATES WELIKANDA CITY

In line with the United Nations Day of Vesak, SF HQ (E) organized a series of activities on account of commemorating that the Buddha was Born, attained Enlightenment and Passing away at the age of 80 on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. \r\n\r\nThe Incumbent Thero of Buddhist Centre Welikanda, Ven Delwita Meththalankara Thero conducted a Bodhi Pooja Programme where the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, Officers and Other Ranks serving at the Headquarters were in attendance.

PULATHISIPURA VESAK ZONE 2017

The 14th United Nations Vesak Day, as well as Sri Lanka’s National Vesak festival, took place in Sri Lanka this year on a grand scale. With the guidance of Commander Security Force (E) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu the 23 Division along with FMA (E) and District Secretariat Polonnaruwa, organized the ‘Pulathisipura Vesak Zone’ at kaduruwela, themed ‘Lord Buddhas Teachings for social justice and Sustainable Global Peace’.

COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (EAST) APPRAISE THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF TROOPS ON VESAK CREATIONS IN SF HQ (EAST)

01. The spectacular Vesak lanterns and decorations displayed at the Vesak Zone in Welikanda City wes observed and appraised by the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu on 13 May. who then awarded the prizes to the creators of the most beautiful lanternson 13 May. \r\n02. According to the assessment of judgers, ESR Squadron team arose as the winners by being the designers of the best displayed Vasak lantern and presented a cash prize of Rs. 25 000.

FELICITATION CEREMONY OF NEWLY PROMOTED GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING - 24 DIV MAJOR GENERAL LM MUDALIGE RWP RSP ndu

\r\n01. 24 Division organized a felicitation ceremony to Maj Gen LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, on the promotion to the rank of Major General on 04 May 17.\r\n02. The GOC was accorded with a Guard Turn-out and a Guard of Honour by troops of 23 SLSR as per the military traditions. Subsequently, the newly promoted GOC planted a Mango sapling at the Headquarter premises as a symbol of remembrance. A brief observance of religious formalities comprised with “Seth Pirith” chanting invoked blessings on the new promotion. Afterwards, GOC attended an All Ranks tea at ORs Mess.

INTER BATTALION DRILL COMPETITION - 24 DIVISION: 23 SLSR SECURED THE CHAMPIONSHIP

1. The Inter Battalion Drill Competition of 24 Division was held on 6, 7 and 9 May 17 at the parade ground of Combat Training School Ampara.\r\n2. General Officer Commanding 24 Division Maj Gen LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu graced the event as the Chief Guest. \r\n3. VESAK ZONE OF 24 DIVISON - MALWATHTHA JUNCTION AMPARA

1. Troops of 24 Division organized a Vesak Zone at Malwaththa Junction Ampara consisted with Belimal Dansela, display of vesak lanterns and colourful decorations. \r\n2. The Vesak zone was declared open by the General Officer Commanding 24 Division Maj Gen LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu. Comd 241 Bde, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers of 24 Div, Other Ranks and a large gathering of all communities of the area attended for the inauguration of the event displaying the inter communal harmony.

22 DIVISION CELEBRATES VESAK FESTIVAL

1. Trincomalee Vesak Zone organized by 22 Division in coordination with the Sri Vaysabothsawa Trade Society – Trincomalee was held from 11 May 17 to 15 May 17. \r\n\r\n2. The vesak pandol depicted ‟Jayaddisa Jathakaya” lit with 25000 electric bulbs using modern technology attracted the viewers.\r\n\r\n3. The inauguration ceremony of the vesak zone was commenced with the participation of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Maj Gen Aruna Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndu psc. Creativity of Vesak lanterns were assessed by an independent judge board.

TROOPS OF 22 DIVISION PARTICIPATED IN THE COMMEMORATON CEREMONY OF WAR HEROES - EASTERN PROVINCE

1. The Commemoration Ceremony of War Heroes of the Eastern Province was organized by the Governor’s Office Eastern Province and Ranaviru Seva Authority in coordination with 22 Division on 16 May 17 at Fort Fredric, Trincomalee. \r\n\r\n2. The day’s proceedings commenced with recital of the National anthem and a two minute silence in memory of fallen war heroes who scarified their lives to safeguard the territorial integrity of the motherland. The religious performances were conducted by Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islamic priests.

COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (EAST) VISITS 12 (V) SLA AND 17 (V) SLLI

The Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, visited 12 (V) SLA and 17(V) SLLI battalions under command to 23 Div on Wednesday, 31 May 2017.\r\nOn arrival, the visiting Comd SF (E) was accorded with formal Guard Turnouts at the entrances of both Bn HQs and thereafter he was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officers.\r\nDuring the visits, the Comd SF (E) planted mango saplings to mark his presence to 12 (V) SLA and 17 (V) SLLI battalions followed by all ranks tea at both venues.

BASIC COMPUTER COURSE FOR OTHER RANKS

Basic Computer Course No 1 of the year 2017 commenced on 01 June at Security Force Headquarters (East) in association with Orient Academy Limited, for Other Ranks serving in the AOR. The opening address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (East), Brigadier UAT Hennedige RSP. The computer course will be conducted for 21 x working days with a view to enhance the computer literacy of soldiers serving in Security Force Headquarters East AOR.
