The National Youth Thaipongal (Festival of harvest) celebration, organized by National Youth Services Council and Thambalagamam Divisional Secretariat with the coordination of 22 Division was held at Thampalagamam Aathikananayakar Hindu Temple on Saturday (19).
A special "Pooja" and traditional Hindu religious observance were conducted at the Kovil and other religious performances were performed by Clergy of Buddhist, Islamic and Christian faiths.
The troops of 224 Brigade decorated the entire festival ground and distributed 2000 pieces of milk rice and 1500 dinner packets among those who participated in the event.
Respective religious dignitaries of the area, Commander 224 Brigade Colonel Pasanna Ediriweera, CAO - 22 Division Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Gamage, CO 15 SLLI Major SMDN Samarakoon and a large gathering of distinguished invitees were present at the event.
