SFHQ (E) Provided dry Rations Worth of 6 lks to Aranayake People Who Were Heavily Affected by land Slides due to Adverse weather conditions. Officers and Other Ranks of SFHQ (E) and 23 Division Collected these dry Rations for Vesak Dansala and all Agreed to give this Item for the Affected People at Aranayaka

1. `23 Division organized a Vesak Celebration Zone on 21st & 22nd May 2016 at Punani, for the 2nd consecutive year. The Vesak Celebration Zone was inaugurated by Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces, East at 1830 hrs on 21st May 2016. 23 Division Vesak Celebration Zone consisted of following items/events: \r\n\r\na. Vesak Lanterns. \r\nb. Vesak Bakthi Gee. \r\nc. Donation of school books to 8 schools in Welikanda and Punani areas. (The donation was sponsored by Mr Ashish Dubey, Mrs Menaka Pathirana and a group of her friends). \r\n\r\n2.

Basic Computer Course No .02 for the year. 2016 Commend on 24 May 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) in association with Orient Academy limited for the Officers and Other Ranks serving in the10 at AOR.\r\n\r\n The opening address was delivers by Brigadier D M S Dissanayaka WWV RWP RSP USP - Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (East). The computer course will be conducted for 21 x working days with a view to develop the computer literacy of the officers and soldiers serving Security Forces (East)

Troops of Security Forces Headquarters (East) conducted a “shramadana” programme to clean up the surroundings of Base Hospital Welikanda coincide with the National Envirenment week – 2016 of the Government from 30 May 2016 to 05 Jun 2016. 02 x 30 tps been actively participated for the event on 05 Jun 2016.

Troops of 233 Bde conducted number of environment programmers to coincide with National Environment week of the Government from 30 May 2016 to 05 June 2016.rnDuring this week troops of 233 Bde carried out a Tree planting programme astride of TCO – BCO main road, a cleaning programme in the coastal belt of Challativu with the participation of 200 x civilians and 10 x 80 troops of 18 SLNG. Comd 233 Bde Col JMC Jayaweera psc and Divisional Secretary of Koraleipattu North – Vakarai too participated in the events.rn

As per a concept of the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu and with the intention of enhancing the preparedness of troops on Search and Rescue, a training course on Disaster Management was successfully conducted for the troops of 22 VIR and 2 (V) GR Bns UC to 22 Div.

1. The Inter Division Athletics Meet of the Security Forces – (East) was held from 8th to 11th June 2016 at the Sports Complex of SF HQ (E). The main objective of the sports meet was to provide an opportunity to the sldrs serving under SFHQ (E) to show their talents and to expose them to the National / International level sports events.\r\n\r\n 2. The concluding ceremony of the SF (E) athletics meet was held on 11th June 2016 with many colourful events including a Drill Display, Band Display and a Drums solo.

With the direction of Commander Security Forces (East) Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, the Basic Computer Course No 2 – 2016 was commenced on 24th May 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) Welikanda in association with Orient Academy Limited for 02 Officers and 38 Other Ranks deployed in Security Forces East AOR and all students were qualified . The course concluded on 16th June 2016 and the Closing Address was conducted by Brig D M S Dissanayaka WWV RWP RSP USP – Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (East).

Mihinthalawai Daham Amawai - SFHQ (E) organized an attractive and pious Poson Bethi Gee Programme in collaboration with School/Dhamma School children of the area on 19 June 2016 at the centre of Welikanda town under the guidance and supervision of the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu.\r\n Prior to the event, Tea Dansela was organized for the civilians who were present at the events.\r\n With the pleasure of religious thoughts gathered after being audience for the Bethi Gee Programme, valuable gifts consisted of school amenities were distributed among all students by the Comd SF (E)

1. 233 Brigade organized a series of events celebrating Poson Full Moon Poyaday at Sri Mahindarama Temple, Mylankarachchi on 19 June 2016 under the direction of Comd 233 Bde Col JMC Jayaweera psc. This included a Poson lantern display and Poson Rice Dansela which were assisted by the under command battalions of 233 Bde.\r\n\r\n2. In parallel with this programme a Poson lantern display was organized at the premises of 233 Bde. Troops under command to 233 Bde along with the civilians in the area were present in this meritorious deed. \r\n
