Determined and fully dedicated to the vision for poverty eradication and sustainable development, as declared by HE the President to coincide with his 2nd anniversary in office, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc, has launched a comprehensive project to impart most modern scientific and technical know-how to village-level farming communities for enhancement of their knowledge on agriculture and farming.\r\nThe three-months long Agriculture training programme conducted for selected farming community by the Army Directorate of Agriculture and Livest

233 Bde conducted a dengue prevention programme on 08th Apr 2017 at Vakarai area. This programme was conducted in accordance with the “National Dengue Prevention Week”. 233 Bde Comd, Divisional Secretary Vakarai, officials of the Vakarai Police and Grama Niladharies of the area participated to the programme along with the military personnel who are serving under 233 Bde. Troops together with police personnel and civilians cleared ten kilometers area along the Batticoloa and Trincomalee road.

Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (East) marked his maiden visit to 24 Div on 07 and 08 April 2017 followed by assuming of duties as the Comd SF (E) . \r\n \r\nFirst day on 07 Apr 2017, Comd SF (E) arrived at HQ 24 Div and GOC 24 Div Brig Mahinda Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, welcomed and ushered the Comd SF (E).Visiting new SF Comd (E) was accorded with a Guard Turnout presented by the troops of 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regt according to the military customs and traditions.

Security Forces Commander (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, paid a courtesy call on the Bishop of Batticaloa Most Rev Dr Joseph Ponniah and District Secretary of Batticaloa Mrs P S M Charles on 11 April 2017 and exchanged views on existing situation in Batticaloa district.\r\n2. Later, Commander Security Forces - East given mementos to District Secretary of Batticaloa Mrs P S M Charles, to mark his visit to Batticaloa District Secretariat.

22 Division joined hands together with civilians in the area to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year at the Orr’s hill grounds on 08th April 2017.\r\n\r\n 22 Division GOC, Senior Military Officers, Senior Government officials in Trincomalee and Senior Police Officers participated as guests.\r\n\r\n A large number of civilians participated in the festival which included many sports and games, such as, placing the eye on the elephant, grease - pole climbing, tracing of hidden guest, tug of war, musical chairs, fancy dresses, Counting of papaya seeds, \"kotta pora\" sigithi Aw

Sinhala and Tamil new year Festival of SFHQ (E) was held at Security Force Headquarters Welikanda on 14th April 2017. The event organized as per the guidance of Comd SF(E) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu. Consequent to the lighting of traditional Oil lamp Comd SF(E) to joined in tasting the traditional new year treats on auspicious moment and troops of SFHQ (E) had displayed \'Gammi Gedara\'. \r\n\r\nSeveral traditional event were held such as playing Pancha, Olidakeliya, the playing of the Raban sural and Onchili Varam at \'Gammi Gedara\'.

Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, made his first official visit to the Brigades and Battalions deployed in 22 Division AOR on 17th and 18th April 2017, after assumption of duties as the Comd SF (E).\r\n\r\nOn arrival at the HQ 22 Div on 17 April 2017, the Comd, SF (E) was warmly welcomed by the GOC 22 Div, Maj Gen Aruna Jayasekara WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc and accorded with a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities at the main entrance.

Commander Security Forces (East) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu paid a homage to Ven Ahungalle Sri Seelavisuddi Thero , the Chief Incumbent of Rangiri Ulpatha Rajamaha Viharaya, followed by a courtesy call on Governor Eastern Province Mr.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year which brings people together, irrespective of race, caste or creed, rekindles the bonds that exist between nature and humankind. 23 Division joined hands together with all ethnic groups in the area to celebrate the ‘Sinhala and Tamil New Year’, the annual auspicious event, giving pride of place to traditional New Year games.

Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu made his first official visit to HQ 23 Division and its under command formations on 20 and 28 April 2017.\r\nThe Comd SF (E) was warmly welcomed by GOC 23 Div, Maj Gen Dammika Pananwala RSP ndu and in accordance with the military formalities; a Guard Turnout was presented to the visiting new Comd SF (E).\r\nSubsequently, the visiting Comd SF (E) planted a mango sapling to mark his first visit to the HQ 23 Div.
