BASIC COMPUTER COURSE FOR ORS IN SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTES (EAST) AOR

Basic Computer Course No 4 for the year 2016 commenced on 02 September 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) in association with Orient Academy Limited, for the Other Ranks serving in the AOR . The Opening Address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (East), Brigadier UAT Hennedige RSP. The Computer Course will be conducted for 21 x working days with a view to develop the Computer Literacy of Soldiers serving in Security Force East AOR .

TWO NEW ACCOMMODATION BLOCKS FOR ORS AT SF HQ (EAST)

Newly constructed two accommodation blocks (26 ’x 100 ’each) have been declared open by the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu with a view of enhancing the basic living standards of ORs in SF HQ (E) on 13 September 2016\r\nThese two newly built accommodation blocks are furnished with 154 x beds, 50 ‹ soldier cupboards and roof ceiling made with modern suspensions system and fitted with LED ceiling fittings.

A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE FOR AGED WIDOW MOTHER AND HER FEEBLE UNMARRIED DAUGHTER AT WELIKANDA

With the inception of Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, tps of ESR Sqn SF HQ (E), along with 17 (V) SLLI tps under 23 Div, constructed a new house for Mrs D R Somawathie (81 yrs) a widow mother who was living with her 55 yr old unmarried feeble daughter in a partly built temporary shelter without even the basic human needs for a long time.\r\nOn 14 Sep 2016, Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, Comd SF (E) and Maj Gen DDUK Hettiarachchi RSP USP ndu psc, GOC 23 Div participated for the house warming ceremony and fully furnished new house was formally handed over to the mother and daughter.

WORKSHOP AT 23 DIVISION BY MR NALAKA HEWAMADDUMA

1. Eminent Educator, Speaker, Trainer, Consultant and a Writer in Peak Performance, Mind Body Wellness, Family Enrichment, Character Building and Personal Effectiveness, Mr Nalaka Hewamadduma conducted two workshops at 23 Division, Punani on 17 September 2016.\r\n\r\n2. The first workshop was conducted for the NCO’s of 23 Division, under command Brigades/Battalions and school children from 4 schools in Welikanda area. The second workshop was conducted for the Officers and Senior NCO’s of 23 Division, under command Brigades/Battalions.

CONCLUSION OF BASIC COMPUTER COURSE NO 04 - 2016

The Directions of Commander Security Forces East Maj Gen KMU Wijerathne USP ndu, the Basic Computer Course No 04 – 2016 was commenced on 02 September 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) Welikanda in association with Orient Academy Limited. 40 Other Ranks deployed in Security Forces (East) AOR attended the course and all students were qualified. The course concluded on 27 September 2016 and the closing address was conducted by Brigadier UTA Hennedige RSP Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (East).

Army Beautifies Trincomalee with a New Museum

23 DIVISIONS ORGANIZED A DONATION OF BOOKS TO ASELAPURA MAHA VIDYALAYA IN WELIKANDA

1. School books/stationeries/library books were distributed among 539 students of Aselapura Maha Vidyalaya in Welikanda on 04 October 2016.\r\n\r\n2. The donation was done by Mr & Mrs Padmasiri de Silva, the proprietors of Samudra Group of Company and Samudra Book Shop at Kurunegala accommodating a request made by 23 Division.\r\n3. Apart from the books, some musical instruments including a Box Guitar, Serpina, Tabla and Flutes were also donated to Aselapura Maha Vidyalaya and the total cost of the donation is Rs. 375000/=.\r\n \r\n4.

23 DIVISION CELEBRATED THE WORLD CHILDREN\'S DAY

23 Division organized a trip on 01 October 2016 for the students of Ruhunuketha Primary School in Welikanda to spend the day at Sallathive Beach in the Eastern Province. Approximately 80 students with their parents and teachers of Ruhunuketha Primary School participated the event. Meals and refreshments were arranged by the 23 Division for all participants and they were entertained by the Calypso Music by Army personnel. Students/parents and teachers of Ruhunuketha Primary School spent the day at Sallathive Beach with lot of enthusiasm on the World Children’s Day.
