Commander Security Force (East) Major General KMU Wijerathne USP ndu visited 23 Division and the Brigades under command on 06 and 07 February 2016. During the visit the Comd SF (E) addressed troops and obtained briefing from the formation commanders on the present situation. Tree Planting ceremony was held at the 23 Division premises to mark the visit.
23 Division conducted a series of awareness programmes on Prevention of Dangerous Drugs for the troops of 23 Division with the support of National Dangerous Drugs Control Board on 09 & 10 Feb 2016. The staff of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board educated the troops on impact of dangerous drugs related issues¸ in Sri Lanka.rnrnThe awareness programmes were organized under the direction of General Officer Commanding 23 Division Major General DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc. The programme included lecture sessions and activities.
Teenage school children around Welikanda area and young Army troops served under 23 Division had a chance of listening to a lecture under the theme of Youth and Love. As per a concept of GOC 23 Div Major General DDUK Hettiarachchi RSP USP ndu psc, a consultant from Human Empowerment, Mrs Rathna Pushpakumari conducted two lectures for young crowd in Welikanda area and Army troops in 23 Division at Welikanda Maha Vidyalaya. on 21 February 2016.
The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General AWJC De Silva RWP VSV USP ndu psc paid an official visit to Security Force Headquarters (East) on 14 March 2016. On his arrival Commander Security Force Headquarters (East) Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu warmly welcomed him in accordance with military formalities. A Guard Turnout was presented to the Commander of the Army at the entrance to the SFHQ(E) premises follwed by a Guard of Honour accorded by 7 Field Engineers of the SFHQ(E) in Welikanda. A series of events was held at the SFHQ(E) premises to glamour the visit of the Commander.
A Sil observation programme was organized by the troops of 8 Gemunu Watch at Tempitiya Rajamaha Viharaya on 22 Feb 2016 in parallel with Nawam Full Moon Poya day. The troops of 231 Brigade and the villagers of Tempitiya actively participated in this meritorious deed.
With the objective of educating officers on Global Information System, a 2 days workshop was held on 25 and 26 February 2016 at 23 Div Headquarters under the direction of General Officer Commanding of 23 Division Major General DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc.rnrnLt Col LRK Kahandagamage SLSC, Lt AAA Chinthaka of Sri Lanka Navy and Capt WMP Wasantha GW of Research and Development Centre – Ministry of Defence conducted worthwhile lectures on GIS.rnrn40 Offrs in 23 Division AOR attended and were benefited from the said workshop.rn
A Ceremony of planting a Bo sapling of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi was conducted by the troops of 8 Gemunu Watch at Pulukunawa Rajamaha Viharaya on 27 February 2016 with the participation of Venerable Ellawala Medananda Thero. General Officer Commanding of 24 Division Major General PMR Bandara WWV usp ndu psc along with other officers and villagers of Pulukunawa participated in this meritorious deed.

On his arrival Commander 24 Division Major General P M R Bandara WWV USP ndu psc warmly welcomed him in accordance with military formalities. The Commander addressed a gathering of nearly 1000 troops of the 24 Division, where he highlighted the importance of training, maintenance of discipline and relationship with the general public. After the troop address the Commander of the Army visited Buddangala Temple.
