BASIC TAMIL LANGUAGE COURSE AT 23 DIVISION

23 Division conducted a Tamil Language Course from 02 Mar 2016 to 09 Apr 2016 for 21 x ORs who are serving in the 23 Div AOR. This was the 1st Course in the year 2016 and 23 Division conducted 02 x Tamil Languages Courses during the year 2015.\r\n\r\nIt is believed that improving the proficiency in Tamil Language amongst the Offrs/ORs in the Army will have a great impact to carry out their duties in the Eastern Province. Further, improving the ability in speaking Tamil language amongst members of the Armed Forces will definitely pave the way to establish lasting peace in Sri Lanka.

WORKSHOP AT 23 DIVISION FOR SENIOR NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS IN SF (E) AOR

The 23 Division organized a workshop for SNCOs\'in SF (E) AOR and the workshop had scheduled for 03 x days from 05th Apr to 07th Apr 2016. The objective of the workshop was to educate SNCO\'s on their duties, responsibilities and the qualities expected from them.rnrnThe workshop was conducted by retired WO 1 KHA Seneviratna of the Corps of Engineers. WO 1 KHA Senevirathna was a well known figure amongst most of the Officers in the Army as he has served at the Sri Lanka Military Academy as an instructor for about 18 x yrs.

WORKSHOP ON CONSERVING THE ENVIRONMENT AT 23 DIVISION

The data shows that wildlife species are disappearing faster than ever before in Earth’s history, while the average global temperature is dangerously rising. The glaciers are melting, extreme weather events are becoming more common and if we do not start taking better care of the environment, we are risking an unprecedented climate change which may threaten the very existence of life as we know it today on a global scale.

WORKSHOP AT 23 DIVISION FOR NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS IN SF (E) AOR

The Junior Non Commissioned Officers played a very vital role during the humanitarian ops and their contributions for small group operations and in the face of the enemy were commendable. However it had been observed that most of the JNCOs do not possess the required knowledge expected from a JNCO in a peace time Army.View of above, 23 Division organized a workshop for NCO\'s in SF (E) AOR and the workshop will continue for 03 days from 8th April to 10th April 16.

CIVIL HOSPITALITY PROGRAMME CARRIED OUT CONCURRENTLY TO THE SINHALA & HINDU NEW YEAR

As per a concept of the Commander 24 Div Major General P M R Bandara WWV USP ndu psc 24 Division,14 April 2016 arranged a lunch for the inmates of an elders’ home located in Ampara.\r\nAll the elderly parents were offered with rations, milk powder and tea packets which were donated by the Div Commander and Other Ranks of 24 Div.\r\n

ALL RANKS FAMILY GET - TOGETHER AT SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST)

The Commander Security Force (East) Major General K M U Wijerathne USP ndu, initiated a get-together for the family members of officers and other Rank staff of the Security Force Headquarters(East) on 21 April 2016 and a series of events were organized for the entertainment of the participants. A Musical evening was held at the Security Force Headquarters (East) premises prior to the dinner and the gathering was entertained by a renowned musician Mrs Anupama Gunasekara.Following day all participants had an opportunity to visit Thoppigala and Kayankerni Coral Cove to have a sea bathing

\r\nBasic Computer Course No 1 for the year 2016 commenced on 25 April 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) in association with the Orient Academy Limited, for the officers and other ranks serving in the AOR. The Opening Address was delivered by Brigadier D M S Dissanayaka WWV RWP RSP USP Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (East). The Computer Course will be conducted for 21 x working days with a view to develop the Computer Literacy of the Officers and Soldiers serving in Security Forces East area \r\n

Security Forces Headquarters(East) conducted a workshop for the members of Sri Lanka Army on IHL and contemporary challenges on 25 and 26 April 2016, under the direction of Directorate of Human Rights & Humanitarian Law and International Committee of the Red Cross .
