Troops of Security Forces Headquarters (East) conducted a Shramadana campaign to clean the surrounding of Welikanda Hospital to commemorate the 67th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army on 10th October 2016

In line With the celebrations of 67th Army day,a Dengue prevention programme has been organized by 24 Division at Ampara town area on 12 October 2016 with the assistance of Regional Medical Health Office - Ampara. GOC - 24 Div, Col (Coord), CAO and all other staff of 24 Div attended the occasion.

PACOM Augmentation Team of Embassy of United States visited SF HQ (E) on 20 Oct 2016 with the purpose of introducing the new Civil Military Support Element and to be aware of the role of SF HQ (E) theatre on Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response.rnThe team had a discussion with all Civil Affairs Officers of SF HQ (E) AOR, related the matters with the Humanitarian Assistance provided by the troops and the activities conducted on disaster response, followed by a presentation on organization and mechanism of Civil Affairs in SF (E).

Troops of the Security Force Headquarters – East, coincide with the ‘Wana Ropa’ National Tree Planting week initiated by His Excellency the President (October 22 - 31), ceremonially initiated planting more than 800 saplings in the SFHQ- (East) theatre on 21 Oct 2016 at 0900 hrs with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks.

241Bde under 24 Div organized a ceremony for laying the foundation stone to erect a security fence around Akkaraipattu Temple on 17 Dec 2015. Man power for the construction is provided by the troops of 241 Bde. Dr Rajeev Vithanage and Dr Kushan Athukorala are funding the construction projects.

233 Bde under 23 Division organized a distribution of dry rations and school amenities among 200 students of low income families from Nawaladi, Vakarei and Panichchankerni on 20 Dec 2015 with the sponsorship of Dilmah Company.\r\n\r\nDonations were taken place at Sri Bodhirajaramamaya - Mailankarachchi, Kandakadu Primary School and Vakarei Maha Vidyalaya with the assistance of 6 GR, 17(V) SLLI and 3 SLNG.

Newly constructed Living Quarters for warrant Officers’ and Sergeants of Security Forces Headquarters (East), was declared open by Major General NJ Walgama RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces (East) on 25 Dec 2015. In parallel with this occasion sandhal wood plants were planted at the Headquarter premises under ‘Chandana Arana’, National Tree Planting Programme.

A newly constructed Mural depicting the historical ancient Battle of Danture in Sri Lanka was declared open at the entrance of 23 Division on 25 December 2015 by the Commander, Security Forces East, Major General N J Walgama RSP VSV USP ndu psc on the invitation of General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Major General D D U K Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc.\r\n \r\nAccording to the Mahawansa, the Sinhalese Army under King Wimaladharmasuriya 1 (1592 - 1604) completely annihilated the Portuguese troops in the field of Danture and secured the power of the Kandyan Kingdom, which was a turning poin

Under the supervision of 22 Div, medical clinics were organized by 221 and 224 Brigades at Sri Rathnajothi Pirivena, Mihindupura College - Trincomalee and Mandalagiri Temple – Dehiwatta on 19 and 20 Dec 2015. Nearly 750 civilians were benefited in this programme. With the sponsorship of \"Jayagrahanaya padanama\" – Colombo, 18 Doctors and 21 medical assistants made a valuable contribution towards these clinics. Troops of 6 SLAC, 2(V) GR and 5(V) SLA provided assistance in this meritorious deed.
