SF HQ (EAST) MAKES WELIKANDA PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS HAPPY

75 Students of Welikanda Primary School had a day of entertainment at Kayankerny Beach in the Eastern coast arranged by SF HQ (East) coincide with the World Children’s Day on 01 October 2017. The event was organized on the instructions of the Commander SF (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, providing the opportunity for the children to enjoy the day. The participants were provided lunch and made this day a memorable one. Col AQ SF HQ (East) Col K A I T Kuruwita, CAO of this HQ, 5 teachers and parents of the students participated for the event.

TWO JUNIOR SCHOOL WERE FACILITATED WITH LIBRARIES BY SECURITY FORCE COMMANDER- EAST

Education stands as the supreme development agent of the culture of a person and reinforcing the basic needs of education should be the central core of early childhood.\r\nTwo libraries Renovate by the Army troops were donated to the Dimbulana junior school and the Sinhapura junior school in welikanda area. The construction were done according to a request of Commander SF (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, to enrich the students by overcoming their long term shortage of library facilities.

23 DIVISION CELEBRATES THE 68TH ANNIVERSARY OF SRI LANKA ARMY

1. Headquarters 23 Division and under command Brigades celebrated the 68th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army with participation of GOC, 23 Division Maj Gen HWSDB Pananwala RSP ndu and all ranks on Tuesday (10) Morning.\r\n\r\n2. In line with the anniversary ceremonies, 23 Division fulfilled the requirement of much needed equipment (Book racks), library books and stationary for children of Thilahavathiyar Girl’s Home at Kathiraweli. At the same event, children were entertained with music and offered a special lunch.

22 DIVISION TROOPS COORDINATE DISTRIBUTE OF SCHOOL ACCESSORIES

22 Division Troops organized a donation campaign along with old Anandians Group 75 - 80 at Somapura Maha Vidyalaya Kallar in Trincomalee District on Sunday (08). Somapura Maha Vidyalaya received a large stock of school accessories. Musical Instruments, exercise books and other stationery items. The distribution held at school Auditorium was organized by 22 VIR troops.\r\n \r\nIn the meantime fulfilling a long term requirement of the Somapura Vidyalaya Shrine, Computer room and Library was constructed by 22 VIR troops. 22 DIVISION TROOPS CONDUCT A SHARMADANA CAMPAIGN

1. A Sharmadana Campaign was conducted to clean Rewatha Children’s Development Centre in Trincomalee. District Secretariat area on Saturday (07) with the participation of Army troops. \r\n\r\n2. The Project got underway as a response to a request made by the marton in the Rewatha Children’s Development Centre from the General Officer Commanding 22 Division Maj Gen KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc. \r\n\r\n3. Troops largely cleaned up the mosquito breeding places and surrounding at Rewatha Children’s Development Centre. \r\n\r\n

LUMBINI STUDENTS WERE DONATED SCHOOL ITEMS BY THE LIONS CLUB 306 C 1 THALANGAMA SOUTH

Security Force Headquarters - East organized a school stationery donation programme with a simple ceremony held at Lumbini Primary school Welikanda on 13 October 2017.\r\nThe donation of school stationery worth of Rs 30,000.00 was made by Lions Club International District 306 C 1 Thalangama South. 86 students of low - income families from Welikanda were the recipients of those incentives. The donation contained with exercise books, library books and other essential stationery items.\r\nLion Rohan Gunathilaka and Lion Maurine Gunathilaka graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Mrs.

233 BRIGADE TROOPS ORGANIZED A DONATION PROGRAMME IN WELIKANDA

233 Brigade organized a community welfare project in Muthuwella village on 13 October 2017 under the auspices of Most Venerable Thripitakawedi Burusegoda Wijithananda Thero to mark his 72 birthday. The project comprised of donating school items for 72 students of Muthuwella Vidyalaya, commodities for 16 needy families in Muthuwella, items required for 06 pregnant women in Muthuwella village and household equipment for a needy family in Kadawathamaduwa. This commendable deed was initiated by 18 SLNG and organized by 17 (V) SLLI.

INTER DIVISION CRICKET TOURNAMENT - SF(E)

The Inter Division Cricket Tournament - 2017 organized by the Security Force Headquarters (East) under the directions of Sri Lanka Army Sports Club (Cricket) was held at SF HQ (East). 22, 23, 24 Divisions, FMA (East) and SF HQ (East) cricket teams were participated in the tournament. \r\nThe teams of 22 Division and 24 Division qualified for the finals held on 19 Oct 2017 and the 24 Division became the Champions. Commander SF (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, GOC 22 Div and GOC 24 Div were presented the trophies and certificates for the winning teams.
