THE COMPLETION OF BASIC COMPUTER COURSE NO 04 - 2017

Basic Computer Course No 4 of the year 2017 conducted at SF HQ East for Officers/ORs serving in the SF (E) AOR was successfully completed on 19 October 2017. The closing address was delivered by Colonel General Staff Security Force Headquarters (East) Colonel WACN Warakagoda psc. The computer course was conducted in association with Orient Academy Limited for 21 x working days from 23 Sep 17 to 19 Oct 17 with a view to enhance the computer literacy of 01x39 participants.

233 BRIGADE DISTRIBUTED 1500 COCONUT SAPLINGS AMONG 200 FAMILIES IN VAKARAI AREA

233 Brigade distributed 1500 coconut saplings among 200 families in Ambandanaweli and Komathalamadu in Vakarai area on 20 October 2017. This Programme was conducted in collaboration with the Coconut Development Board coincide with the “Waga Sangramaya” launched by the government to develop the agriculture. The Brigade Commander Colonel Chandra Jayaweera along with the Regional Manager Coconut Development Board - Batticaloa Mrs. Premani Ravirajani, Secretary of Vakarai Pradeshiya Sabha Mr. S Indrakumar and Chief Accounant - Divisional Secretariat Office Vakarai Miss.

BEFORE LEAVING THE EASTERN THEATRE, COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (EAST) VISITS UNDER COMMAND DIVISIONS AND FORWARD MAINTENANCE AREA (EAST)

Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu marked his last official visit to under command Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area - (East) on 23, 25 and 26 October 2017 before the relinquishment of his tenure. \r\n\r\nAt the outset, the Comd SF (E) visited HQ 24 Div on 23 October, on 25 made a visit to HQ 22 Div & FMA (East) and 23 Div on 26 October. During the visits, Comd SF (E) was accorded with Guard Turnouts at the entrances of all respective venues and warmly welcomed by all the GOCs and Comd FMA (E) with military customs and traditions.

COMMANDER MEETS TROOPS AT THE SF HQ-E

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army on Saturday (28), made a formal visit to the Security Force Headquarters - East. \r\n The formalities observed at Headquarters in connection with the Commander\'s scheduled visit commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out accorded to the Commander on arrival to the venue. Commander SF(East) Major General Nandana Senadeera welcomed the visiting Army Chief and in accordance with military traditions, the Commander was saluted afterwards in a Guard of Honour accorded by 7 Field Engineers.

MAJOR GENERAL NANDANA SENADEERA BIDS FAREWELL TO SECURITY FORCES (EAST)

The Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu with an illustrious military career spanning over 34 years, relinquished the office of the Eastern Command on 31 October 2017, and will be retiring from the Sri Lanka Army on 03 November 2017. \r\n\r\n The series of formalities held at Headquarters in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Commander on arrival to the venue.

NEW COMMANDER SF (EAST) ASSUMES DUTIES

The newly appointed Commander Security Force East Major General H.W.S.D.B Pananwala RSP ndu assumed duties on Thursday (02) morning at his office at the Security Force Headquarters East.\r\n\r\nThe new Commander was accorded a Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour by soldiers of 7 Field Engineers on his arrival at the premises. He lit the traditional oil lamp and attended to religious rituals of all four major denominations before he initialed the first document as symbolic commencement of his duties.

22 DIVISION TROOPS DONATE BLOOD TO TRINCOMALEE HOSPITAL

22 Division conducted a Blood Donation Programme on 30 October at the 22 Div Headquarters. \r\n\r\n This virtuous deed was organized by the 22 Division on the instructions of Maj Gen KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndu psc-General Officer Commanding 22 Division in response to a request made by Dr RA Devarajah in charge of the Blood Bank-Trincomalee Hospital. \r\n\r\n More than 150 officers and Other Ranks participated for the event and volunteered to donate blood. The hospital Director and the staff thanked the Army for their generosity.\r\n

ANOTHER COMMUNITY - ORIENTED EMPOWERING PROGRAMME OF ARMY SEVA VANITHA UNIT CONCLUDES IN SF (EAST)

A donation programme of school items sponsored by the Lions Club of Colombo Fort was successfully held at Sinhapura Kanishta Vidyalaya Welikanda on Saturday (04) under the coordination of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).
