Sinhala and Tamil new year Festival of SFHQ (E) was held at Security Force Headquarters Welikanda on 14th April 2017. The event organized as per the guidance of Comd SF(E) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu. Consequent to the lighting of traditional Oil lamp Comd SF(E) to joined in tasting the traditional new year treats on auspicious moment and troops of SFHQ (E) had displayed \'Gammi Gedara\'. \r\n\r\nSeveral traditional event were held such as playing Pancha, Olidakeliya, the playing of the Raban sural and Onchili Varam at \'Gammi Gedara\'.

Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, made his first official visit to the Brigades and Battalions deployed in 22 Division AOR on 17th and 18th April 2017, after assumption of duties as the Comd SF (E).\r\n\r\nOn arrival at the HQ 22 Div on 17 April 2017, the Comd, SF (E) was warmly welcomed by the GOC 22 Div, Maj Gen Aruna Jayasekara WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc and accorded with a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities at the main entrance.

Commander Security Forces (East) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu paid a homage to Ven Ahungalle Sri Seelavisuddi Thero , the Chief Incumbent of Rangiri Ulpatha Rajamaha Viharaya, followed by a courtesy call on Governor Eastern Province Mr.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year which brings people together, irrespective of race, caste or creed, rekindles the bonds that exist between nature and humankind. 23 Division joined hands together with all ethnic groups in the area to celebrate the ‘Sinhala and Tamil New Year’, the annual auspicious event, giving pride of place to traditional New Year games.

Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu made his first official visit to HQ 23 Division and its under command formations on 20 and 28 April 2017.\r\nThe Comd SF (E) was warmly welcomed by GOC 23 Div, Maj Gen Dammika Pananwala RSP ndu and in accordance with the military formalities; a Guard Turnout was presented to the visiting new Comd SF (E).\r\nSubsequently, the visiting Comd SF (E) planted a mango sapling to mark his first visit to the HQ 23 Div.

Education stands as the supreme developing agent of the culture of a person and reinforcing the basic needs of education should be the central core of early childhood. \r\nFocusing on the same initiative and in response to a request made by the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, Mr Shanaka Perera, a close associate of Comd SF (E) donated 140 x packs of school accessories among all the children of Sinhapura Maha Vidyalaya on 10 May 2017,(Vesak Full Moon Poya day). Each pack contained the essential school stationeries including a school bag worth Rs.

Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) or Reality Based Martial Arts refer to systems of self defence that focus exclusively on reality based self defence scenarios and conditions. Unlike mixed martial arts and traditional martial arts styles like Karate, reality based self defence is not a hobby or sport and it does not represent tournaments or sports combat competitions. It\'s all about learning how to fight for self defence in an actual threatened scenarios. \r\n\r\n23 Division conducted a RBSD Course No 02 with the able assistance of 1 CR, which consisted with 44 working days.

In line with the United Nations Day of Vesak, SF HQ (E) organized a series of activities on account of commemorating that the Buddha was Born, attained Enlightenment and Passing away at the age of 80 on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. \r\n\r\nThe Incumbent Thero of Buddhist Centre Welikanda, Ven Delwita Meththalankara Thero conducted a Bodhi Pooja Programme where the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, Officers and Other Ranks serving at the Headquarters were in attendance.

The 14th United Nations Vesak Day, as well as Sri Lanka’s National Vesak festival, took place in Sri Lanka this year on a grand scale. With the guidance of Commander Security Force (E) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu the 23 Division along with FMA (E) and District Secretariat Polonnaruwa, organized the ‘Pulathisipura Vesak Zone’ at kaduruwela, themed ‘Lord Buddhas Teachings for social justice and Sustainable Global Peace’.

The spectacular Vesak lanterns and decorations displayed at the Vesak Zone in Welikanda City wes observed and appraised by the Comd SF (E) Maj Gen Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu on 13 May. who then awarded the prizes to the creators of the most beautiful lanternson 13 May. \r\n02. According to the assessment of judgers, ESR Squadron team arose as the winners by being the designers of the best displayed Vasak lantern and presented a cash prize of Rs. 25 000.
