WORKSHOP AT 23 DIVISION FOR NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS IN SF (E) AOR

The Junior Non Commissioned Officers played a very vital role during the humanitarian ops and their contributions for small group operations and in the face of the enemy were commendable. However it had been observed that most of the JNCOs do not possess the required knowledge expected from a JNCO in a peace time Army.View of above, 23 Division organized a workshop for NCO\'s in SF (E) AOR and the workshop will continue for 03 days from 8th April to 10th April 16.

CIVIL HOSPITALITY PROGRAMME CARRIED OUT CONCURRENTLY TO THE SINHALA & HINDU NEW YEAR

As per a concept of the Commander 24 Div Major General P M R Bandara WWV USP ndu psc 24 Division,14 April 2016 arranged a lunch for the inmates of an elders’ home located in Ampara.\r\nAll the elderly parents were offered with rations, milk powder and tea packets which were donated by the Div Commander and Other Ranks of 24 Div.\r\n

ALL RANKS FAMILY GET - TOGETHER AT SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST)

The Commander Security Force (East) Major General K M U Wijerathne USP ndu, initiated a get-together for the family members of officers and other Rank staff of the Security Force Headquarters(East) on 21 April 2016 and a series of events were organized for the entertainment of the participants. A Musical evening was held at the Security Force Headquarters (East) premises prior to the dinner and the gathering was entertained by a renowned musician Mrs Anupama Gunasekara.Following day all participants had an opportunity to visit Thoppigala and Kayankerni Coral Cove to have a sea bathing

BASIC COMPUTER COURSE FOR OFFICERS AND ORS IN SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTES (EAST) AREA

\r\nBasic Computer Course No 1 for the year 2016 commenced on 25 April 2016 at Security Forces Headquarters (East) in association with the Orient Academy Limited, for the officers and other ranks serving in the AOR. The Opening Address was delivered by Brigadier D M S Dissanayaka WWV RWP RSP USP Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (East). The Computer Course will be conducted for 21 x working days with a view to develop the Computer Literacy of the Officers and Soldiers serving in Security Forces East area \r\n

WORKSHOP FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY ON IHL AND CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES AT SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTER (EAST).

Security Forces Headquarters(East) conducted a workshop for the members of Sri Lanka Army on IHL and contemporary challenges on 25 and 26 April 2016, under the direction of Directorate of Human Rights & Humanitarian Law and International Committee of the Red Cross .

23 DIVISIONS CONDUCTED BASIC ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE FOR THE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS WHO HAD BEEN COMMISSIONED AS OFFICERS

1. The shortage of officer carder had been fulfilled by a considerable number of non commissioned officers during the humanitarian operations. Their contribution as junior leaders had been a great impact for the success of the operations. It is worth mentioning that many of them made a supreme sacrifice in the battle field for the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of mother Lanka.However it was observed that the standard of English knowledge of above mentioned officers are needed to be improve the expected stranded sanders of and officering.\r\n\r\n2.

SINHALA AND HINDU NEW YEAR FESTIVAL OF 233 BDE

Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival of 233 Bde was held at pradeshiya Saba public ground at Vakarai on 28th April 2016. Several traditional event of the New Year festival were held during the event such as kotta poraya, kanamuttiya, tug of war and many other colorful pageants (Fancy dress, Aurudu Kumaraya, Aurudu Kumari).Many people in Vakarai, Mankerni, Panichchankerni and Kadiraweli area along with members of the army were also took part as well as witness the event.

COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (EAST) CEREMONIALLY HANDED OVER 12 OVERHAULED TRACTORS TO THE DRIVERS AT FMA (E) MINNERIYA ON 04 MAY 2016

With the Guidance of the Commander Security Forces (East), Maj Gen KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, the Commanding Officer 3 SLEME Lt Col KARK Dias USP SLEME has initiated a special tractor repair project at Medium Workshop, 3 SLEME, Minneriya under the supervision of Comd FMA (E) Brig AV Rupasinghe. The total cost of this project was Rs. 2,275,200.55 and 12 x tractors were overhauled under this project within a period of 05 months.
