WALK FOR SIGHT –VISION 2020 PROGRAMME

Walk for Sight - Vision 2020 Programme which was organized by Regional Director of Health Service – Ampara for raising funds for the differently able civilians, was conducted from Nuwaragalathenna to Padiyathalawa on 28 and 29 November 2015 with the coordination of 241 Bde and 16 SLNG. 01 x 20 Military personnel with 37 civilians participated for the 1st day programme and 01 x 20 Military personnel with 41 civilians participated for the 2nd day programme. Refreshments and other assistance were extended to the participants as instr by HQ SF(E).

AN AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON \"PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE AND WOMEN HARASSMENT\"

An awareness programme on \"Preventing Child Abuse and Women Harassment\" was conducted by Mrs Shiromi Maskorale, National Psychological Adviser and Mr Manoj Samarasekara, Chief Inspector of Police Child and Women Bureau with the assistance of 22 Div at the Auditorium of Vivekananda College on 06 Dec 2015.\r\nNearly 700 Security Forces members from SL Army, SL Navy, SL Air Force, Civil Defence Force and Civil Society were educated at this progamme. \r\n

2nd ANNIVERSARY OF 24 DIVISION

24 Division celebrated its 2nd anniversary in a grand scale on 11, 12 and 14 Dec 2015 at Div HQ premises with pomp and colour. A well attended ceremony was conducted under the patronage of Maj Gen PMR Bandara WWV USP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of 24 Division.\r\n\r\nThe proceedings of the first day were commenced with the Guard of honour given to General Officer Commanding of 24 Division by the troops 3(V) VIR. Following day, giving priority to religious events, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony and an Alms Giving to Maha Sanga were taken place.

VISIT OF MAJ GEN SAPP SAMARASINGHE RSP USP psc TO 2ND REGIMENT SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS

Chief of Staff - Sri Lanka Army & Colonel Commandant - Sri Lanka Signal Corps Maj Gen SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc arrived at the 2nd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps for an official visit on 26th April 2015.He was accorded a Guard turnout by the troops and he planted a tree sapling at the unit area. Later he addressed the troops.The Commanding Officer 2nd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps presented a plaque to Colonel Commandant as a memento to mark his visit to the unit. In conclusion Maj Gen SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc also signed the 2nd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps visitor\'s book.

OPENING OF NEWLY CONSTRUCTED CORPORALS\' CLUB OF SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (EAST)

Under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East), 3 ESR provided labour assistance to build a fully-fledged Corporals\' Club in order to fulfill a high necessity of Security Forces Headquarters (East) within a short period of four months. It was declared open by Maj Gen NJ Walgama on 28.04.2015 for the use of corporals of the Security Forces Headquarters (East).

SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (EAST) CELEBRATE VESAK FESTIVAL IN GIANT SCALE

Initially a Bodi Pooja was organized at the Security Forces Headquarters (East) premises followed by a Vesak Zone organized at Batticoloa Polonnaruwa main road in Welikanda Town. The Vesak Zone consists of exhibition of Vesak Lanterns and organizing a Dansala. Major General NJ Walgama RSP USP ndu psc Commander, Security Forces (East) declared open the Vesak zone on 3rd May 2015 for which large crowd of devotees reside in the area were visited.

8 SLA ORGANIZED SERIES OF ACTIVITIES PERTAINING TO VESAK FESTIVAL

8th Sri Lanka Artillery of 222 Brigade of 22 Division in Security Force (East) AOR organized a series of activities pertaining to Vesak Feastival. Initially several \"Shramadana\" campaigns were organized to clean the premises of Somawathiya Temple and Lumbini Temple Hingurakgala and also a Sil Campaign was organized at the Senanayakarama Viharaya Hingurakgoda on Vesak day. About 70 x military personals were participated for the Sil campaign. Finally 10 x persons of 8th Sri Lanka Artillery provided assistance to prepare foods for the Vesak Maha Dansala organized at Polonnaruwa.
