Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces (East) marked his last official visit to under command Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area - (East) on 25 and 26 March 2017 before the relinquishment of his tenure. \r\nInitially, the Comd SF (E) visited FMA – (E), HQ 22 and 23 Divs on 25 March and on the following day he made a visit to HQ 24 Div. During the visits, Comd SF (E) was accorded with Guard Turnouts at the entrances of all respective venues and warmly welcomed by all the GOCs and Comd FMA (E) with military customs and traditions.

The Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc with an illustrious military career spanning over 33 years, relinquished the office of the Eastern Command on 27 March 2017, and will be taking over the command as the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).\r\n\r\nA series of formalities held at Headquarters in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Commander on arrival to the venue.

Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, assumed duties as the Commander Security Forces – (East) on 29 March 2017, in accordance with military formalities.

In the wake of alarming rise in incidence of Dengue epidemic in certain areas of Eastern Province, troops of SF HQ (E) engaged in two day Dengue prevention program at SF HQ (E) premises.\r\n\r\nDuring the said Dengue prevention programme, more than 300 troops of SFHQ (E) took all precautionary measures for control of the epidemic within the camp premises.\r\n

233 Bde conducted a dengue prevention programme on 08th Apr 2017 at Vakarai area. This programme was conducted in accordance with the “National Dengue Prevention Week”. 233 Bde Comd, Divisional Secretary Vakarai, officials of the Vakarai Police and Grama Niladharies of the area participated to the programme along with the military personnel who are serving under 233 Bde. Troops together with police personnel and civilians cleared ten kilometers area along the Batticoloa and Trincomalee road.

Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (East) marked his maiden visit to 24 Div on 07 and 08 April 2017 followed by assuming of duties as the Comd SF (E) . \r\n \r\nFirst day on 07 Apr 2017, Comd SF (E) arrived at HQ 24 Div and GOC 24 Div Brig Mahinda Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, welcomed and ushered the Comd SF (E).Visiting new SF Comd (E) was accorded with a Guard Turnout presented by the troops of 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regt according to the military customs and traditions.

Security Forces Commander (East) Major General Nandana Senadeera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu, paid a courtesy call on the Bishop of Batticaloa Most Rev Dr Joseph Ponniah and District Secretary of Batticaloa Mrs P S M Charles on 11 April 2017 and exchanged views on existing situation in Batticaloa district.\r\n2. Later, Commander Security Forces - East given mementos to District Secretary of Batticaloa Mrs P S M Charles, to mark his visit to Batticaloa District Secretariat.
