FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (EAST) TO THE FORMATIONS DEPLOYED IN 24 DIVISIONS
Major General H W S D B Pananwala RSP ndu-Commander Security Forces East, after assuming duties as the Comd SF (E), made his first official visit in 24 Division AOR on Sunday(05) and met a great section of serving Officers and Other Ranks. In addition, he met District Secretary - Ampara Mr. Thusitha P Wanigasinghe, Deputy Inspector General of Police - Ampara Mr. K Nuwan J Wedasinghe and other government officials.\r\n\r\nThe day\'s itinerary of the Commander SF (E) commenced where he was received by Maj Gen L M Mudalige RWP RSP, GOC 24 Div and accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by troops of 24 Div in accordance with military formalities. Afterwards, Comd SF (E) planted a Mango sapling to mark his maiden visit and addressed a large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks where he spelt out his vision and future objectives as the Commander Security Forces East. He expressed his full confidence that all army personnel will perform their duties with commitment and integrity while demanding disciplined behavior of troops under command.\r\n\r\nThereafter, GOC 24 Div briefed on operational and administrative aspects as well as welfare facilities of the troops where the Brigade Commanders and all Battalion Commanders of the AOR were present. Subsequently, the Comd SF (E) participated for an all ranks lunch at the ORs Mess and left complementary remarks on the visitors’ book.\r\n \r\nIn the afternoon, Comd SF (E) concluded the first day of the program by visiting HQ 3 (V) VIR and HQ 16 SLNG and had discussions with Officers with a view to identify their grievances, difficulties, their views on various operational, administrative matters and welfare facilities of Other Ranks as well.\r\n\r\nEventually, the Comd SF (E) called at Deegawapiya Raja Maha Viharaya Ampara and religious blessings were invoked on the visiting East Commander.\r\n\r\nOn the following day, the Commander visited the HQ 241 Brigade Akkaraipattu, HQ 242 Brigade Komari, HQ 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, HQ 8 Sri Lanka National Guard, HQ 11 Sri Lanka National Guard and inspired them to continue their training and development while maintaining the highest standards of military discipline at all levels. During the visit, the Commander SF (E) did not forget to pay homage to ancient Okanda “Devalaya” Panama and Muhudu Maha Viharaya Pothuvil. \r\n
