COMMANDER MEETS TROOPS AT THE SF HQ-E

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army on Saturday (28), made a formal visit to the Security Force Headquarters - East. \r\n The formalities observed at Headquarters in connection with the Commander\'s scheduled visit commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out accorded to the Commander on arrival to the venue. Commander SF(East) Major General Nandana Senadeera welcomed the visiting Army Chief and in accordance with military traditions, the Commander was saluted afterwards in a Guard of Honour accorded by 7 Field Engineers. \r\n Subsequently, the Commander addressed a gathering of more than 1000 troops of the AOR, drawn from all Divisions and the Forward Maintenance Area (East) where he underlined the importance of getting on to a Capacity Based Army through professionalism to meet any challenge, any threat at any situation giving priority for training, maintenance of discipline and excellent relations with the general public.\r\n Then the visiting Commander of the Army formally opened the new Other Ranks\' Holiday Bungalow at the SF HQ-E premises amidst chanting of \'Seth Pirith\' by the members of \'Maha Sanga\'. Giving due recognition, the Commander requested the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of SF HQ-E to join the ribbon cutting and do the house warming rituals.\r\n Planting of a sapling at the newly-opened Other Ranks\' holiday bungalow premises, posing for a group photograph and an All Rank lunch were among major segments in the day\'s proceedings. Afterwards, the Commander SF-E Major General Nandana Senadeera, in a separate conference briefed the Commander on the status quo and other subjects of relevance in the area. He also presented a memento to the visiting Commander of the Army as a token of goodwill and memory before the conclusion of the scheduled programme. \r\n The Commander concluded his visit leaving a few lines of compliments in the visitors’ book.\r\n\r\n\r\n
