Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers organized a lecture titled "The adverse effect of the mobile phones which ruins a happy family life". The lecture was conducted at the Lieutenant General NKB Angammana Memorial Hall on 15 September 2018. The lecture was delivered by Mrs Menaka Pathirana the Deputy Director of Customer Complains and Consumer/Public Awareness at the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka. It was a thought provoking and an interactive session where the lecturer and the audience shared their experiences. Further, the lecturer explained the legal aspects related to the use of the mobile phones in the telecommunication field. At the conclusion of the lecture, Mrs Ajantha Hettiarachchi President of Seva Vanitha Branch of Corps of Engineers presented the lecturer with a gift in appreciation for her valuable time. The lecture was also attended by Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps.

Major Namal Keerthisinghe of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers clinched the first in order of the merit in the Unit Command Course held at Officer Career Development Centre - Buttala from 01 May to 01 August 2018. The awarding ceremony was held on 03 August 2018 and the trophy for the first place awarded to the most outstanding officer and was presented by Brigadier D M D C C Gunawardana RWP USP ndc psc, the Commandant Officer Career Development Centre. 20 student officers who are potential to be appointed as the Commanding Officer appointment were participated in the course.

Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers cricket team won the Army Inter Regiments(Group B Division) Cricket Championship - 2018 which was held from 23 June to 01 August 2018 with the participation of 17 teams. The finals was held at Muthukumaru Ground, Panagoda and Sappers cricket team emerged as champions beating Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps by 11 runs.

The ceremony, held at the Convention Centre of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Army Cantonment, Panagoda, was headed by the President Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Mrs Ajantha Hettiarrachchi as the Chief Guest.

Humanitarian Demining Basic course (HDB 35) which was conducted from 21 March 2018 to 11 May 2018 was successfully completed qualifying seven Officers and forty three Other Ranks of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The course was conducted according to the annual training schedule of the Headquarter Engineer Brigade. Lieutenant P N Ariyasinghe SLE 12 Field Engineer Regiment was awarded as the First in Order of Merit for the great achievement during the course.

As a concept of the Colonel Commandant, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General Darshana Hettarrachchi, to educate all Senior Non Commissioned Officers of the Corps a lecture was conducted by WO 1 KRA Senevirathna to educate the audience on “The Role and Responsibilities of a SNCO”. The lecture was conducted at Lieutenant General Angammana Memorial Conference hall on 09 March 2018. The informative lecture was enthusiastic and immensely benefited for the contemporary SNCO’S broadening their knowledge and sharing the experiences.

14 CBRN Response Regiment SLE is a dedicated organization to response Chemical, Biological, Radiology and Nuclear emergencies in the country. To prove its vital role in the field, solders of 14 CBRN Regt SLE conducted a first responder operation against the toxic gas emission from a dumped soiling general area Kelaniya on 12 January 2018.
