Outgoing Commanding Officer 8 SLE Regiment, Lt Col P G P A Wijerathne RSP USP SLE was saluted in accordance with military traditions with customary farewell, held at the 8 SLE Regiment in Boo Oya, Vavuniya.
Traditional Kovil Poojava and All rank tea marked the occasion in accordance with military traditions to mark the relinquishment of his appointment. The outgoing Commanding Officer addressed the troops and thanked everyone for the assistance and supports they have provided to him during his tenure and also encourage the troops to take best out of them by rectifying mistakes. He left memories by posing for group photograph. He participated for the Bodi Pooja at the evening organized by the all Officers and Other Ranks of 8 Field Engineer Regiment to give the blessing to their outgoing Commanding Officer. The event was culminated with a farewell dinner with the participation of all officers of 8 SLE where his valuable service was appreciated by presenting a memento.
Outgoing Commanding Officer planted a sapling before leaving the Boo Oya premises marking his tenure at 8 SLE on 30 January 2021.
