  • SPR DESHAPRIYA OF 12 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT SECURED THE 2ND PLACE AT ARMY INTER REGIMENT MOTOR CROSS-2019

    S/247160 Spr Deshapriya GPCS of 12 Field Engineer Regiment became the 2nd in the 125 CC Novices Category Motorbike event at the Army Inter Regiment Motor Cross 2019. The event was held on 3rd March 2019 at the Gajaba Super Cross Track, Saliyapura. Maj Gen D D U K Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers graced the occasion as the Chairman Army Motor Sport Committee. This is the first time in the Sappers history that a Sapper secured a position in the Inter Regiment Motor Cross.

  • THE 14 CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL RADIOLOGY AND NUCLEAR RESPONSE REGIMENT CONDUCTS A LIVE DEMONSTRATION TO THE COLONEL COMMANDANT

    The Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc paid an official visit to the 14 Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Regiment on the request made by the Commanding Officer. A demonstration on the capabilities of CBRN first respondents was conducted during this visit. The CO 14 CBRN conducted the initial briefing at the 5 Fd SLE Officers’ mess which was followed by the demonstration at the Sappers Cricket Grounds on 28 February 2019.

    The 14 Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Regiment SLE (14 CBRN Regt SLE) on the request of World Health Organization, Sri Lanka (WHO Sri Lanka) conducted a demonstration on CBRN Response and Explosive Ordnance Disposal for the participants of international course on emergency response in natural, accidental and deliberate events and operational readiness on 15 February 2019 at army camp, Mattegoda.

  • SAPPERS EMERGED CHAMPIONS IN THE ARMY GOLF TOURNAMENT - 2018

    Sri Lanka Army Golf Association organized the Inter Regiment Golf Tournament which was worked off on 8th and 9th February at the picturesque Golf Course (Polo Ground), in Diyatalawa.

    The inter regiment golf tournament was worked out in the main two categories of ‘team’ and ‘individual’. Individual events were conducted as per the age categories. More than 100 male and female competitors representing most of the regiments competed in this tournament.

  • DONATION OF BOOKS TO THE RFT LIBRARY CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

    A donation programme gifting books to the RFT library of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was held on 19 February 2019 at the Corps Headquarters, at Panagoda. The event was organized by the Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch on the directions of the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineers and Commander Security Force Jaffna Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi. The donation was sponsored by the Doctor’s Welfare Association Sri Lanka (DOWELS). Mr Aruna Rajapaksha the president of DOWELS, senior members of DOWELS, Centre Commandant, Senior Seva Vanitha members, officers and differently able war heroes were present at this occasion.

  • VISIT OF THE EU PARLIAMENT MEMBERS TO THE SRI LANKA ARMY HUMANITARIAN DEMINING UNIT (SLA HDU) SITES

    A two member delegation of the European Union Parliament paid a visit to the Headquarter Engineer Brigade on 4 January 2019 whilst visiting the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni). Hon. (Mr.) Geoffrey Charles Van Orden and Hon. (Mr.) William Earl of Dartmouth were briefed on the humanitarian demining process carried out in Sri Lanka and the contribution made by the SLA HDU for this national requirement. During their visit, they were able to witness a demonstration of mine clearing process carried out by Mine Detection Dogs (MDDs) and manual mine clearings.

  • DONATION FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLE WAR VETERANS

    A donation of gift packs for the differently able soldiers of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was held at the Corps Headquarters in Panagoda on 29 December 2018. This event was organized by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in collaboration with the Lions Club of Makola on the direction of the Colonel Commandant.

  • DISTRIBUTION OF STATIONARY ITEMS FOR WAR HEROES CHILDREN

    The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Engineers organized a donation programme to distribute stationary packs to children of war veterans. The programme was held on 25 December 2018 at Corps Headquarters and 100 children were provided with stationary items. The stationary packs were generously sponsored by Mr Prasad Kumara and Mrs Menaka Pathirana on the request made by the Major General DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineers and Mrs Ajantha Hettiarrachchi President Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers.

  • ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 2018 OF SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

    The Annual General Meeting of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was held on 11 December 2018 at the Cinema Hall of Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna). The meeting was presided by the President Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Ajantha Hettiarachchi. A guest lecture and a donation programme followed by a family get-together were some significant part of the event.

    During the AGM, tasks carried out in the present year were reviewed and the proposed plan for the upcoming year was discussed. Further, new office bearers were appointed for the coming year. The guest lecture on the “Role of Woman in the present Society” was delivered by senior counselor Mrs Ishama Kariyakarawana.

  • CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS ORGANIZED A BLOOD DONATION PROGRAMME

    A Blood Donation campaign wasorganized by the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers to coincide with the 67th Corps Day Celebrations. As per the directions of the Colonel Commandant Major General DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the event was held at Corps Headquarters, in Panagoda on 23 October 2018. On the request made by the Corps of Engineers, the Staff of the National Cancer Hospital, Maharagama extended their support to make this event a success. A total of 200 x donors which included officers and Other Ranks of the Corps donated blood on this special occasion.
