Major General HJS Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers graced the occasion as the chief guest and declared open the newly constructed Officers’ Mess and the “Café Fifteen” Welfare Shop of 15 (V) SLE on 23 November 2020. The Chief Guest on his arrival at the 15 (V) Engineer Regiment SLE was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Major ELKR Edirisighe SLE and accorded with a Guard Turnout.
Coinciding the event a planting of sapling was taken place and minutes later the Chief Guest addressed the gathering including the Officers and troops of 15 (V) Engineer Regiment SLE. The construction work of the Officers’ Mess and the much needed welfare facility for the soldiers have been undertaken with the assistance and contribution of Officers and Soldiers of the regiment. Senior Officers, including Maj Gen HRKP Peiris VSV USP ndu - Additional Director PMU, Maj Gen AN Amarasekara USP ndu - Chief Field Engineer, Maj Gen WMGCSB Wijesundera RSP USP ndu - General Officer Commanding Engineer Division, Brig NPA Gunawardena RSP- Commander Engineer Brigade, Brig DP Jayasinghe RSP- Commander General Engineering Brigade, Brig P Wimalasiri RWP RSP - Director of Directorate of management and maintaince and Director CMU, Brig M Mayadunna RSP USP- Centre Commandant SLE , Senior Officers, Officers and large gathering of Other Ranks were presented at the mesmerizing inaugural ceremony.
