Troops of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering organized a series of religious ceremonies to mark the Vesak Festival. These events were held in the camp premises on May 23 and 24, 2024, under the guidance of the Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, Colonel MKV Manoharan USP.

The annual Diyawannawa Vesak Zone 2024, jointly organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Independent Television Network (ITN), commenced on 23 May 2024.The ceremonial illumination of the Vesak lanterns took place on Vesak Poya Day evening under the patronage of Defence Secretary General G D H Kamal Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil (Retd) and the Chairman of ITN, Mr. Sudarshana Gunawardana.
