The dawn of the year 2025 as the first working day, was ceremonially marked with military formalities at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 01 January 2025 presided by Colonel F Joseph USP, the Centre Commandant SLE.
The day began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Centre Commandant, accompanied by the hoisting of the Engineers Flag by Colonel M D J Wickramaarachchi USP psc ptsc, the Deputy Centre Commandant. The solemn moment was enriched by the singing of the National Anthem and the Army Song as the flags were hoisted to full mast.
A poignant highlight of the morning was the observance of a two-minute silence to honor the memory of fallen War Heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
Following the proceedings, all personnel reaffirmed their commitment to national and environmental responsibilities by taking the oath associated with the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative.
The formalities concluded with a traditional All Ranks Tea, fostering camaraderie among attendees, including Staff Officers, Senior NonCommissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Sappers, and Civilian staff attached to the Regimental Centre. This gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for interaction and spirit to set the tone for the year ahead.
