Major General TC Peiris RSP USP, the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army, made his inaugural official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME), Embilipitiya on 20 December 2024.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Colonel JACS Jagoda psc, the Commandant of SLSME. He was then honoured with a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance, after which the Commandant introduced the Officers and Other Ranks officials to the visiting two-star General.
The Chief Field Engineer then posed for a group photograph with Officers and Other Ranks and planted a sapling at the camp to commemorate his visit to the SLSME. The Chief Field Engineer also attended a detailed briefing from the Commandant of SLSME, followed by a Troop address at the main lecture hall.
During the troop address, the Chief Field Engineer emphasized the importance of conducting of proper training, maintenance of proper coordination for communication and continuation of excellent dedicated services. At the conclusion of his address, the Commandant of SLSME presented a memento to mark his visit.
Then, the Senior Officer participated in the all ranks tea, followed by a field visit, to the ongoing construction sites, NVQ Wing and Plant Engineering Wing at Kachchigala. The day's events concluded with lunch at the “Thotupala”, where the Chief Field Engineer left remarks in the Visitors' Book before his departure.
