Lt Col NKBS Jayasekara SLE was awarded with the best outstanding graduate in Engineering Intermediate Command Course held at Training Base of Army Engineering University in China from 2023 September to 2024 January. Large number of foreign student officers participated to the course from Cuba, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

In response to the strike by trade unions of Para medical, Nursing, and minor staff of the Base Hospital Homagama and Divisional Hospital Athurugiriya, 5 Field Engineer Regiment which is under command to 142 Infantry Brigade, presently performing Internal security duties at Ministers’ office, official residences, and riot control duties. Troops were deployed at the Hospitals on 01 February 2024 and continuing with aiding on second consecutive date on 02 February 2024, to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services at the hospital.

In a heart-warming display of goodwill and charity, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers organised a book donation programme on 28 January 2024, at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The initiative aimed to support 394 soldiers who have three or more children in their families by providing books to facilitate their children's studies.
