The General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division Major General RAJN Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc made his inaugural visit to 12 Field Engineer Regiment on 24 August 2023 after assuming duties as the GOC, 61 Infantry Division. The General Officer Commander, 61 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 12 Field Engineer Regiment Lt Col DGEMRB Dhammanthota psc SLE, all Officers and Other Ranks.

By the invitation of the Director General of Disaster Management Centre and the 15th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen (Retd) Sudantha Ranasinghe RWP RSP Msc ndu psc, a Conference PA System was donated to the RHQ SLE and fulfilled eagerly awaited facility. Approximately, over 2 Million worth of conference PA system consisted with 15 Gooseneck Microphones and an Amplifier, installed to the RHQ SLE conference hall. The Commander Security Forces Headquarters Mullaitivu and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu expressed the gratitude on the valuable donation arranged by the Director General Disaster Management Centre.

Army 14 CBRN Regiment Troops successfully assisted the fire fighters in neutralizing the fire that occurred. After a fire broke out in a chemical storage facility in the Homagama industrial zone at around 2030 hrs on 17 Aug 2023. The factory consisted of various hazardous chemicals including high intensity chlorine and other hazardous substances. Due to the incident, there was a high risk for the fire to spread to other industrial chemical storages which would have created a high-risk situation.

The 16th anniversary celebrations of 10 Field Engineer Regiment were held at Myliddy on 03 August 2023, showcasing glamour and pride in a grand scale. The anniversary day celebrations were commenced with Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour for the Commanding Officer. The Commanding Officer was received by the Second in Command, Maj LLCS Cabraal psc SLE. Group Photograph, Planting of Sapling and All Rank lunch were lined up in the rest of the programme.

Captain SAMAKC Senanayake SLE became the first in order of merit in the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare course No 32 held from 24 April 2023 to 28 July 2023 at Army Training School – Maduruoya. Total 27 student officers including 01 Officer from Sri Lanka Navy and 02 Officers from Sri Lanka Air Force were participated in the course. Besides, this is the consecutive second occasion of sapper officer became the first in order of merit in this course.
