The 10 Field Engineer Regiment which was raised on 03 August 2007 proudly marked their 17th anniversary this year, marking yet another milestone by showcasing glamour and pride in a grand scale. Series of religious and military formalities were organized with the participation of the Commanding Officer Major L V R C N Bandara RSP psc SLE as the Chief Guest.
The celebrations began with the Inter-Squadron cricket tournament followed by the Commanding Officer and all ranks received blessings from Bodhi pooja held at the unit temple and Maviddipuram Hindu Kovil.
Additionally, dry rations and sanitary items were donated to Sivapoomi Elders’ home Keeramalei prior to the anniversary day. In keeping with military tradition, on the anniversary day, the Commanding Officer was accorded with Guard Turnout and a Battalion Parade showcasing the prestige of the regiment. The Second In Command Major R R I Rodrigo psc SLE warmly welcomed the Commanding Officer with pride at the occasion.
Moreover, planting of sapling, group photograph and all ranks lunch were lined up with the schedule. The brief series of anniversary commemoration concluded with a vibrant musical night with the participation of all Officers, Other Ranks and civilian employees at unit premises which was organized with the aim of reducing monotony of soldiers and as an appreciation for their commitment towards the unit in every aspect.
