According to a concept of the President of Seva Vanitha Branch, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, 5 Field Engineer Regiment took the initiative to organize an event to enhance physical and mental health of 28 elderly mothers and fathers residing at the Thusitha Elders’ Home at Maththegoda on Wednesday, 28 August 2024.
The event followed with cleaning of elders’ home, providing delicious and healthy lunch and donating dry ration packets to the inmates in order to maintain both physical and emotional well being. Also, the day’s highlights extended beyond just providing meals and donation. The day’s programme was colorful with a special musical program featuring a live calypso band. This musical performance was carefully planned to enhance the elders’ mental health and bring joy to their day. The cheerful tunes and engaging rhythms of the calypso band created a vibrant atmosphere, helping to lift the spirits of everyone present.
