On 13th February 2023 the troop of 1 Field Engeer Regiment reaped the paddy harvest from 2 ½ acres of paddy cultivation sown in the past “Maha” season at Panagoda village with the participation of all ranks of the unit. This project was started as direction of Regimental Centre - Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers with objectives of developing the indigenous agricultural activities in order to the overcome the food crisis that has arisen in the county.

Subsequent to the request forwarded by the Embassy of the United States of America to the Ministry of Defence, approval was granted to conduct the SMEE at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering in Embilipitiya. Two representatives from the United States Montana Air National Guard EOD team participated in this programme. The Sri Lankan side consisted of 16 Officers and 27 Other ranks. The SMEE was conducted from 13 Feb 23 to 17 Feb 23.
