10th (V) Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organized a community care programme to distribute dry ration packs for 05 selected low-income families in J/433 Mulliyan GN Division on 23 December.
Showing great magnanimity towards the supply for life-supporting accessories, Mr. Ragikaran Shanmugarathnam, domiciled in Canada at the request of Brigadier EMLP Ekanayake USP, the Commander of 513 Infantry Brigade came forward to sponsor 50 Foot Bicycles to students, 25 Dry Ration packs for elderly women and 25 Nutritious packs for pregnant mothers of low-income group families in the Kirimalai, Jaffna.
The newly appointed Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, engaged in courtesy visits within the region on 23 December, met with Mr. L Illaangovan - Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, Mr. Nagalingam Vethanayahan - Honourable Governor of the Northern Province, Mr. M Piratheepan, the District Secretary of Jaffna and Rev. Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam - Bishop of Jaffna at the Bishop’s House and workplaces respectively.
Under the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, conducted a community relation programme to mark the dawn of Christmas – 2024 with the collaboration of Manusath Derana and Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Limited at the CIMIC Park premises of 51 Infantry Division on 12 December.
Under the direction of Major General PR Pathiravithana USAWC psc, the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, and the supervision of Brigadier WKSPMRAB Dodamwela psc, the Commander of 522 Infantry Bridge, troops of 1 MIR contributed to repair a road running from Aliaweli to Kottanda Kulam in Iyakkachchi area on 29 November 2024.
Troops of 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment provided assistance in an emergency situation where main bridge connecting Pudukkadu to Maradankeini on Point Pedro, Vettalaikerni road which was severely eroded in the basement and threatened to be washed away due to prevailing adverse weather condition.
Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV, RWP and two bars, RSP and bar, USP, MMSc (Strat Stu-China), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (China), psc, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence made an emergency visit to Jaffna and Kilinochchi Districts on 28 November 2024 to inspect and assess the disaster situation and relief efforts in the region.
Troops of 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment provided assistance in an emergency situation where Palamkulam tank bund was threatened to be eroded due to prevailing adverse weather conditions. On the instruction given by the Commander 55 Infantry Division Major General B G S Fernanado USP Hdmc psc and direct supervision of the Commander 551 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment, 02 x 15 troops assisted in strengthening the Palamkulam tank bund by laying 300 x sandbags despite continuous heavy rains.
Under the guidance of Major General PR Pathiravithana USAWC psc, the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, and the supervision of Brigadier MHR Frenando RWP RSP USP, the Commander 521 Infantry Brigade, the troops of 521 Infantry Brigade assisted families affected by severe flooding in Katkowalam and Pulidanagar area on 27 November 2024.
Under the supervision of 52 Infantry Division and 521 Infantry Brigade, an Officer and 09 Other Ranks of 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment participated in the Judge panel of the drill competition held at Central College – Nelliady on 21 November 2024.
