In view with facilitating logistics matters of battalions and establishments through the coordination of logistics units under Security Forces (Jaffna), the Forward Maintenance Area (North) was established on 18 June 1995 at the precincts of Cement Factory in Kankesanthurai under the guidance and directions of Brigadier J P A Jayawardena USP. The establishment was shifted and reestablished in Miliddy area after the conclusion of the war against terrorism. Presently, Maj Gen EMM Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO performs duties as the Commander of Forward Maintenance Area (North).
