The newly constructed house, handed over to a needy family in Walikamam South, Uduvil, on January 11th, 2025, is a significant gesture of support and community collaboration. The house was constructed and presented with the leadership and guidance of Major General Manada Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander of the Security Forces (Jaffna), who was the chief guest at the event.
The project was managed under the oversight of Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, General Officer Commanding the 51 Infantry Division, and Brigadier MPSP Kulasekara WWV RWP RSP, Commander of the 512 Infantry Brigade. The troops of the 17th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch played a crucial role by providing both technical support and manpower to construct the house.
Financial backing for the project came from Vanni Aid Canada, with coordination efforts led by Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retd). The ceremony also saw the participation of senior military officers, government officials, and civilians, all highlighting the collaborative nature of the initiative to support a family in need.
This event underscores the strong commitment to humanitarian efforts and the importance of community support in improving the living conditions of underprivileged families.
