  • MAJOR GENERAL SANTHUSITHA PANANWALA BIDS FAREWELL TO SECURITY FORCE (EAST)

    The Commander Security Force (East), Major General Santhusitha Pananwala RSP ndu with an illustrious military career spanning over 36 years, relinquished the office of the Security Force (East) on 19 November 2018, and will be retiring from the Sri Lanka Army on 24 November 2018. The series of formalities held at Headquarters on 19 November 2018 in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Security Force Commander on arrival to the venue. The Chief Guest inspected the Guard of Honour accorded to him by troops of the 7 Field Engineer Regiment in keeping with military traditions.

  • THE 15th ANNIVERSARY PARADE OF SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (EAST)

    The 15th anniversary programme of Security Force Headquarters (East) assumed greater significance in conformity with military traditions where the Chief Guest, the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the camp premises by troops of 7 Field Engineers. The parade which was accorded in honour of the Commander Security Forces (East) consisted of squads from the under command Battalions of Security Forces (East) and it was commanded by the Commanding Officer 10 Gajaba Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Ruwan Ehelepola. The event was attended by Invitees, General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Commander FMA (East) Major General Manoj Mudannayake, General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Kapila Udalupola, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and the staff of the Headquarters.

  • SFHQ (EAST) SYMBOLIC FLAG BLESSING CEREMONY HELD IN BATTICALOA

    Under the direction of Commander of the Army, Security Force Headquarters (East) jointly with 23 Division organized a solemn flag-blessing ceremony at Mangalaramaya, Batticaloa on Thursday (6) in connection with the forthcoming 69th Army anniversary and the Army Day (Oct 10). The event was organized with the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Chula Abenayaka and Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella. A representative gathering of Officers and Other Rankers serving in Security Force Headquarters (East), Forward Maintenance Area (East) and 23 Division attended the occasion.

  • COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (MULLAITIVU) GRACES THE PASSING OUT OF REALITY BASED SELF DEFENCE COURSE

    In consequence to a request made by the Commander, Security Force (Mullaitivu) from the Security Force Headquarters (East), a group of SF (Mullaitivu) soldiers graduated as 'self defence' competent upon the successful completion of the Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) course. The passing out ceremony of the RBSD course No 05 was held on 16 September at the Headquarters 23 Division in the presence of a large gathering of viewers. A total of 52 Army personnel serving in Security Force (Mullaitivu) and Security Force – East (47 men and 05 women) followed the course. Commander Security Force (Mullaitivu) Major General Dushan Rajaguru graced the passing out ceremony as the Chief Guest.

    In connection with 180 development projects which have been completed under the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ (Awakening of Polonnaruwa) District Development Programme being vested in the public in Polonnaruwa, Security Force Headquarters organized ‘Miyasi Rathriya’ a mega musical show on the guidance of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake on Thursday (02) August.

  • TROOPS UNDER 24 DIVISION ASSIST THE 71 UPASAMPADA CEREMONY

    On a request made by the Secretary to Sri Lanka Ramanna Nikarakshaka Sabha, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, the Commander of the Army has assigned Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, Commander Security Force (East) and Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding 24 Division to engage and coordinate the 71 Upasampada Ceremony task in most appropriately. This ritual was held in the middle of the Gal Oya River from 18 July 2018 to 25 July 2018 covering eight days. There were 400 Samaneras qualified to have Upasampada and each day 50 Samaneras were made as Upasampada in front of Chief Monks, including Most Venerable Napana Premasiri thero with several ritual and proceedings.

  • “PULATHISI POSON ULELA” ILLUMINATES THE WHOLE POLONNARUWA

    In line with the Poson Full Moon Poya Day, a significant annual event in the Sri Lankan Buddhist calendar which consecrates the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka, the Security Force Headquarters (East) gave the fullest support for "Pulathisi Poson Ulela" with the blessings of Commander of the Army and under the guidance of Commander Security Force (East), Major General Santhusitha Pananwala and the General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Chula Abenayaka. The programe was jointly organized by the Army, DS PLN and President's office.
