The Cadet Government serves as the cornerstone of leadership, discipline, and accountability among Officer Cadets at the Sri Lanka Military Academy Acting as the vital link between the cadet body and the Academy's command structure, it ensures smooth communication, effective coordination and the efficient management of most training related activities.
The Cadet Government Appointment Awarding Ceremony for the second half of 2025, a significant milestone in every officer cadet's journey was held on 18th October 2025 at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium. A total of 110 appointments were awarded at the ceremony, recognizing their outstanding performance, dedication, and leadership potential displayed during their course of training. The appointments included the Battalion Under Officer, three Company Under Officers, the Battalion Adjutant, seventeen Platoon Under Officers, one Cadet Battalion Sergeant Major, one Cadet Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant, two Cadet Company Sergeant Majors, two Cadet Company Quartermaster Sergeants, seventeen Cadet Sergeants, forty-five Cadet Corporals, and twenty Cadet Lance Corporals. Notably, Company Under Officer SMAJ Samarakoon of Intake 93 was appointed as the Battalion Under Officer, while Cadet Company Quarter Marster Sergeant AMMV Adikari, also of Intake 93 was designated as the Battalion Sergeant Major, marking this a proud moment in their leadership journey.
The ceremony was graced by the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Major General MJRS Medagoda RSP USP ndu psc IG, as the Chief Guest. The Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Senior Officers, Officers, and Officer Cadets also attended this distinguished event.
In his speech, the Commandant extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed cadet leaders and emphasized the significance of their roles in upholding discipline, responsibility and leadership within the cadet community. The event concluded with a renewed sense of pride and commitment among the trainee officer cadets at the SLMA.
