The Best Orator Competition is an annual event at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) designed to enhance officer cadets' confidence in public speaking while developing their communication and leadership abilities within a military learning atmosphere. On 2 October 2025, the competition was held for the fifth consecutive year at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, featuring participants from Intakes 93, 94B, SC 23, 62(V), Lady 20, and 19(V) under the theme "Speak to Lead, Speak to Inspire."
Preliminary rounds of the competition were conducted at intake levels, from which eight outstanding orators were selected to compete in the grand finale for the title of "The Best Orator of the SLMA." Their performances were evaluated by a panel of judges, and after an intense and competitive session, Cdt/CSM WMSNS Weerasinghe of Intake 93 emerged as the winner, impressing the audience with his speech titled "The Fire within the Uniform."
At the award ceremony, all finalists received certificates in recognition of their remarkable performances from the Chief Instructor and overlooking Director Academics Colonel PADSW Ponnamperuma USP psc, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Senior Officers, Officers, and Officer Cadets of the Military Academy.
