The Sri Lanka Military Academy successfully executed ‘Exercise Samanala Tharanaya’ on 16 and 17 August, a mandatory component of the SLMA training calendar. The exercise, is designed as an intensive and adventurous training activity, which is aimed to cultivate the spirit of adventure, enhance physical endurance and mental resilience while strengthening leadership capabilities among officer cadets.
A distinctive feature of the exercise, was the visit to Adam’s Peak during the off seasonal period. This activity was planned not only as a physically demanding and mentally stimulating challenge but also to contribute to national and community initiatives in line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme. Hence, the exercise included a dedicated effort by Officer Cadets to clean the sacred site and its route, reflecting the SLMA Commandant’s vision of integrating training with CIMIC responsibility.
The exercise saw the active participation of the Commandant, the Chief Instructor, 33 Officer Instructors, 50 administrative and training staff and 241 Officer Cadets while successfully highlighting the SLMA’s enduring commitment to shaping capable, courageous, and socially responsible future military leaders.
