The opening address of NCC Probationary Officers’ Course No 44 was held on 02 July 2025 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. This intake comprises of forty-four male and seventeen female probationary officers, all of whom are professionals in the education sector.
The Commandant of the SLMA, Major General M J R S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG, delivered the opening address, while warmly welcoming the probationary officers. In his speech, the Commandant emphasized the critical role the teachers play as leaders and mentors in shaping the character and values of future generations. Moreover, he highlighted how leadership qualities demonstrated in the classroom are directly relevant and vital in the military context as well.
Furthermore, the Commandant urged the trainees to make the most of this unique and prestigious opportunity, since their initial training at the SLMA, is both a historic milestone and a rare privilege.
The event was graced by the presence of the Director of the NCC, Brig AQ of NCC, Wing Heads of the SLMA, training-related officers of the NCC and other rank instructors of the course, while marking the commencement of yet another significant chapter in the training of National Cadet Corps probationary officers.
