The Inter-company Volleyball Tournament – 2025 of the Sri Lanka Military Academy was held with great enthusiasm and grandeur on 17 May 2025 at the Lieutenant Thilak Nissanka Memorial Indoor Gymnasium, marking one of the most anticipated sporting events on the Academy calendar.
This annual tournament is more than just a competition - it serves as a vital platform for nurturing essential sports values such as agility, speed, vigour, teamwork, and sportsmanship among officer cadets. Through its competitive yet collegial environment, the event aims to cultivate leadership and camaraderie through physical excellence.
Following a series of intense knockout rounds, the final phase of the tournament brought together officer cadets from Intakes 93, 94B, SC 21 A, and SC 22A, each representing the Vijithapura and Randeniwala Company.
Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest was Brigadier PSK Ranathungamage RSP psc, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy. He was joined by Wing Heads, Officers, Other Ranks, and Officer Cadets, all gathered to witness the thrilling culmination of the tournament.
In a spirited and high-octane series of matches, Randeniwala Company delivered a commendable performance, securing Second Place. However, it was Vijithapura Company that emerged victorious, displaying outstanding teamwork and athleticism to claim the title of Champion Company of the Inter-company Volleyball Tournament – 2025.
The tournament also recognized individual excellence. At the closing Presentation Ceremony, special awards and certificates were presented to the following outstanding players:
• Best Setter – Cdt/CQMS AMMV Adhikari (Intake 93)
• Best Attacker – O/Cdt SHM Siriwardhana (Intake 94B)
• Best All-Rounder – O/Cdt KS Wijesooriya (Intake 62V)
