INTAKE 93B SHIELDED ‘THE CHAMPIONS’ OF THE INTER INTAKE DEBATE COMPETITION – 2024
The Language Studies Division of the SLMA holds the Inter Intake Debate Competition annually to enhance officer cadets' debating and public speaking skills, fostering their logical thinking, awareness on pertinent issues, while promoting cooperation among them.
On 7th September 2024, the final of the Inter Intake Debate Competition -2024 between Intake 93 and Intake 93B, themed ‘ Battle of Wits’ was held with the participation of the Commandant-SLMA, Maj Gen ULJS Perera RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest along with the Overlooking Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Officers, teachers and students of a few invited schools in Bandarawela Education Zone and Officer Cadets of the SLMA.
Initially, intra intake and inter intake debates among all academy Intakes on the topics of ‘Tuition Classes Undermine the Formal School Education System of Sri Lanka’ and ‘Online Education is a Viable Alternative to Traditional Schooling in Sri Lanka’ were held prior to the finals between Intake 93 and 93B on ‘Military and Academic Components of the BSc Degree in Military Studies should be conducted separately at the SLMA’. After a heated debate between the two teams, Intake 93B was judged as the Champion of the Inter Intake Debate Competition-2024 while O/Cdt MMM Shihan of Intake 93B was chosen as the Most Promising Debater of the competition. Finally, the event was concluded with a prize awarding ceremony with the gracious presence of the Chief Guest.
