The Inter-Company Sports Meet, conducted annually to foster sportsmanship, leadership, and organizational skills, was held on the 30th and 31st of August 2024 at the Polo Ground. The Inauguration Ceremony took place on the 30th of August, with the Commandant, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc, attending as the Chief Guest. Following the Opening declaration, a series of heated and competitive events unfolded including the Invited Schools- Girls’ and Boys’ Relays, Inter Wing Relay and Civil Servants’ Race, culminating in the Closing Ceremony on the 31st of August.
The Inter-Company Sports Meet was marked by intense enthusiasm in both individual and team events. Gannoruwa Company emerged victorious, earning the title of Champion Company. Balana Company and Vijithapura Company secured the positions of First Runner-up and Second Runner-up, respectively.
Adding a memorable highlight to the event, Pl/U/O TKAGW Chathurangi was recognized as the Best Female Athlete of the Inter-Company Sports Meet 2024, owing to her outstanding performances both at this competition and the 4th CISM World Cadet Games in Venezuela. Sharing the same score, Cdt/L/Cpl WNN Kularathna was also honoured as Best Female Athlete. In the male category, O/Cdt UMVRB Hewavissa and Foreign O/Cdt O Vincent were jointly named Best Male Athletes after achieving identical scores. O/Cdt YB Jayawardane was recognized as the Best Swimmer of the Inter-Company Sports Meet 2024.
Additionally, several new records were set by O/Cdts during the competition: Cdt/L/Cpl TRAK Bandara in Men's Discus Throw with a distance of 32.80m, and Cdt/L/Cpl WNN Kularathna in Women's 400m with a time of 1.09 minutes.
The Inter-Company Sports Meet 2024 concluded with a legacy of cherished memories for the Academy.
