The Sri Lanka Military Academy marked its 32nd Anniversary, which falls on August 20th, with a series of distinctive military events from 18th to 20th August 2024.
On 18th August, an overnight pirith chanting ceremony was held to invoke blessings followed by an alms-giving for twelve Buddhist monks at the Officer Cadets’ Mess. The day ended with a commemorative parade held at the War Memorial, where flower wreaths were laid in honour of fallen heroes.
On the morning of 20th August, a ceremonial parade was accorded to the Commandant, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc where he addressed all attendees and expressed his gratitude including past commandants and staff for their unwavering contributions to upholding the prestige of this great military training institution. Following this, the Commandant, along with senior officers, participated in a tree-planting ceremony, symbolically marking the preservation of nature. Later, financial assistance was provided to a few Academy personnel who are faced with extreme economic difficulties, at the Commandant’s Office. The Academy Day Anniversary celebrations concluded with a traditional all-ranks lunch organized at the Corporals’ Club.
The 32nd Academy Day Celebrations culminated in a series of distinguished and meritorious events, reaffirming the proud and noble service of the Sri Lanka Military Academy.
