On 30th July 2024, forty one student Officers of the Senior Command Course 11 (SCC 11) including the Senior Instructor and seven other Directing Staff (DSs) from the Army War College (AWC), Buttala visited the SLMA with the purpose of acquiring knowledge and experience on varied types of ‘DRILLS’ practiced in the Army, which is covered as a part of their course curriculum at the AWC.
On their arrival to the SLMA, they were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Training Team, MTW, Lieutenant Colonel HT De Silva RWP RSP USP psc. Afterwards, they were given with the required theoretical and practical knowledge on Ceremonial Drills, Guard Turnout, Guard of Honour, Military Funeral Drills with demonstrations conducted by the Drill Instructors and the students of the ongoing DI course at a few locations of the Military Academy and Fox Hill area.
Finally, the visit came to an end with an interactive session between the Student Officers and the staff of the SLMA at Officers’ Mess followed by a feast.
