VISIT OF DIRECTOR GENERAL GENERAL STAFF - ARMY HEADQUARTERS TO THE SLMA

On 1 Aug 2024, Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General SAND Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc paid his official visit to the SLMA in order to observe the training process at the SLMA and to discuss varied training concerns. On his arrival, the DGGS was extended with a warm welcome by the Commandant Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc together with the Deputy Commandant and all other Wing Heads of the Military Academy at the main entrance. Afterwards, a briefing on the ongoing training was held at the Conference Hall with the attendance of the Wing Heads in order to make him aware of the current training status. Then, a Troop Address was held at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of all Officers and Other Ranks with the prime objective of giving a better understanding about restructuring of the Army, conduct of military personnel and emerging contemporary issues. In order to mark his visit a remarkable one, a token of appreciation was presented to the DGGS by the Commandant. Afterwards, Major General SAND Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc posed for a group photograph with the Commandant and his staff in the backdrop of the main entrance of the auditorium. By adding a depth to the visit, he shared his valuable insights on officer cadet training with all Officer Instructors, involving in military and academic training. One of the most significant concerns of the DGGS’ visit was to have a better understanding about the conduct of military training and effective utilization of available resources. Hence, on 1st morning, the DGGS attended the cadets’ morning PT parade, held at the Lieutenant Thilak Nissanka Memorial Indoor Gymnasium. Subsequently, he paid a visit to cadets’ accommodation areas as well to witness their living standard and efficient utilization of other facilities. In hospitality and gratitude, the guest was offered with a feast at the Officer Mess where the DGGS, Major General SAND Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc remembered to inscribe an exquisite note upon his official visit to the Military Academy in the Visitors’ Book, before leaving the premises.
