‘DRILL’ is a much essential component in military training that nurtures discipline, teamwork, physical fitness, attention to detail, confidence, and combat readiness, all of which are essential qualities for a successful soldier.
The Drill Instructor Course at the SLMA was designed with the aim of producing professionally qualified Drill Instructors to the Sri Lanka Army. On 26th July 2024, the Drill Instructor Course No 132 consisting of eighty-five SNCOs embarked on their Drill Instructor training with the Opening Address by the Commandant at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium. The Commandant Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc attended the event as the Chief Guest along with the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Officers and DI Course Instructors.
The Commandant during his speech underscored the importance of Drill to a soldier and its high contribution on inculcating Army’s values and traditions. Also, the Commandant emphasized how the DI Course sets their career path and the Army’s progression. Finally, he added his wishes to the SNCOs to successfully pursue the course with sheer determination and burning desire of becoming a professional Drill Instructor of the victorious SL Army.
