The Language Day holds a significant place in the Academy’s calendar as one of the major Academy events which allows trainee officer cadets, not only to demonstrate their aesthetic talents but also their linguistic skills on stage with varied genre such as play, drama, skit, song, dance, analysis, recitation etc.
On 20 June, 2024, the Language Day of the Intake 93, themed ‘Metamorphosis in Action” was staged at Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, which was graced by the Commandant-SLMA, Maj Gen ULJS Perera RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest along with all Wing Heads, senior officers and officers. The officer cadets of all other intakes were also present there to witness the show. The officer cadets showcased their talents through classical play, drama, song analysis, songs, playlets in both Tamil and English languages for their entertainment. During the Language Day programme, the dramatic and linguistic skills of the Intake were evaluated by a panel of judges and the classical play of William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ was adjudged ‘The Best Entertaining Performance’ while the main character of the drama, ‘Macbeth’ stirred by O/Cdt AASK Abeysinghe was selected as ‘The Best Actor’ of the Language Day. The Chief Guest by awarding the prizes to the winners highly appreciated their performance by extending an inspirational show for the august gathering.
