38TH COMMANDANT ASSUMES DUTIES AT SLMA

A warm welcome was accorded to Maj Gen ULJS Perera RSP USP psc who assumed duties as the 38th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 03 June 2024. The ceremony commenced with a cordial welcome as the new Commandant was greeted with a Guard Turnout and a customary Guard of Honour, held at the Academy’s ‘A’ gate and the Parade Ground. Notably, paying homage to the fallen war heroes of the Sri Lanka Army, the Commandant laid a flower wreath at the War Memorial.

Following the parade, Maj Gen ULJS Perera RSP USP psc proceeded to undertake the formalities of assuming duties at his office, marking the official transition. Subsequently, addressing all Academy personnel in two sessions at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, the Commandant emphasized the significant role of trainee officer cadets, stressing their responsibility in undergoing training at the SLMA. In a Troop Address, the Commandant underscored the importance of dedicated service to the Military Academy in achieving its objectives and training directives, while sharing insights and future perspectives with the officers to fulfill organizational aspirations.

Maintaining cultural traditions, a traditional tea party was hosted for the new Commandant at the Headquarters’ complex, attended by officers, NCOs, officer cadets, and civil employees of the Military Academy. The ceremony culminated in an interactive session between the Commandant and officers, followed by a special lunch at the Officers’ Mess. These events were attended by the Deputy Commandant of the SLMA, Wing Heads and Officers, marking a significant moment in the history of the Sri Lanka Military Academy.
