INTERCOMPANY VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT-2024

The Intercompany Volleyball Tournament of the Sri Lanka Military Academy is considered, one of the most significant and magnificent events in the Academy Calendar which is organized to inculcate sports values such as agility, speed, vigour, team spirit and sportsmanship within trainee officer cadets in a competitive spirit.

Preceded by a series of knock out matches, the competition was held on 04 May 2024 at the Lieutenant Thilak Nissanka Memorial Indoor Gymnasium with the participation of Officer Cadets of Intake 92A, 93, 93B, DE 1, SC 21, and Intake SC 22 representing all four Companies of the Military Academy. This splendid event was graced by the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Brigadier RRMPNB Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest along with Wing Heads, Officers, Other Ranks and Officer Cadets.

After a series of competitive and exciting initial matches, Gannoruwa Company was able to secure the Second Place. While pulling the total score to the highest among the four Companies, Balana Company achieved a fabulous victory, and was crowned as the Champion Company of the Intercompany Volleyball Tournament -2024. Meanwhile, the outstanding players of the tournament were also appreciated with special awards and certificates at the Presentation Ceremony; O/Cdt K A D A S Dasanayake of Intake SC 21 was titled as the Best Player, O/Cdt R T D Karunarathna of Intake 92A as the Best Setter and O/Cdt H A R C Hettiarachchi of Intake SC 22 became the Best Attacker. Finally, the immense support extended by the Referees of the Sri Lanka Army Volleyball Federation was too admired with tokens of appreciation.
