‘Independence Day’ is one of the remarkable national festivals, held to celebrate the independence gained from British rule on 4th Feb 1948 with conduct of varied activities such as flag-hoisting ceremony, traditional cultural dances, parades etc.
On 4th Feb 2024, SLMA joined in cerebrating the 76th Independence Day by conducting a ceremonial parade consisting of 62 Officers, 215 NCOs, 161 Officer Cadets, 16 civil staff members at the HQ frontage with the participation of the Commandant together with the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads and other senior officers.
On this occasion, the National Flag was hoisted and the National Anthem was sung. Then, a two- minute silence was observed in retrospect of the fallen warriors during recent and past confrontations. Finally, all personnel gathered at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium to watch the live telecast of the National Independence Day Parade on TV.
