THE BEST ORATOR COMPETITION, A STAGE FOR POWER OF SPEECH

‘Orator Competitions’ are introduced in modern education systems to help students in Their learning process to improve public speaking skills. The Best Orator Competition 2023 was held at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium on 17 October 2023 for the third consecutive time with the participation of Intake 92, 92 B, SC 20, 92 A, DE 1/ 2023 and 93 under the theme of “Power of Speech”.

After three initial rounds at syndicate and intake levels, ten hand-picked orators representing their respective intakes entered into the final to materialize their dream of becoming “The Best Orator of the SLMA” by showcasing their oratory skills which were adjudged under key aspects such as content enrichment, linguistic skills, emotional delivery and physical delivery. After a head to head competition, Coy/U/O DM Mallawarachchi of Intake 92 speaking on “ Friendly Enemy” was named "The Second Runner up” of the competition, Cdt/ Sgt SLN Nuwanchana of Intake 92 B speaking on “ Secrets of Success” emerged as “The First Runner up” while O/Cdt WMSNS Weerasinghe of Intake 93 delivering his speech on “Love, Marriage and Life” claimed “The Best Orator Award” from the Chief Guest, Major General M T I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc. Meanwhile, every presenter’s public speaking skills and talents were appreciated with award of certificates. The presenters' power of speech was able to broaden the horizon and intellect of the august gathering by taking them on a fascinating education tour of multidisciplinary subjects.
