OPENING ADDRESS OF THE 130 DI COURSE; AN ICE BREAKER

In military, ‘DRILL’ which implies; Discipline by ‘D’, Regimentation by ‘R’, Integrity by ‘I’ and , Loyalty and Leadership by the last two ‘L’s is considered bread and butter of a solder. The Drill Instructor Course at the SLMA is conducted with the aim of producing professionally qualified DIs to the Sri Lanka Army.

On 2nd Aug 2023, the Opening Address of the 130th DI Course consisting of 82 SNCOs including one lady SNCO was held at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of the Commandant- SLMA, Brigadier M T I Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc as the Chief Guest and, all Wing Heads and Officers too attended this inauguration ceremony.

By addressing the students of the DI course, the Commandant advised them to maintain proper conduct during the course of training and they were encouraged to achieve their dream of becoming ‘professional drill instructors of the Sri Lanka Army. Also, the Commandant stressed how the DI course opens up avenues for career opportunities and progression, and what significance Drill carries in preserving Army’s values, traditions and morals.
