The Oath Ceremony is a prolonged customary tradition which signifies the successful completion of the military orientation training by fresh trainee officer cadets by giving the oath before the National Flag, Academy Flag and Company Flags (Membership). Trainees on this occasion agree to protect the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka against any threat while respecting the law and order of the country, SOPs, military traditions and practices of the Academy and the Army. This moment becomes a very significant benchmark in a cadet’s life as they are privileged to wear white epaulettes on their shoulders as members of the Alma Mater (SLMA).
